If that is true, why than most reviewers kept encouraging people to buy OnePlus phones? I don't think I've read any warning at all in any reviews...

First off, read the second link which suggests this is possibly baseless.

Second, do you really need to have linear time explained to you? They recommended it for the same reason they recommended the Note 7 even though the batteries ended up being incredibly dangerous; they can not predict the future.

I'm more worried about the U.S government snooping on my data tbh.

I've been using Oneplus devices for about 3 years and have had no data breaches, for whatever that piece of anecdotal evidence is worth.

There's certainly no evidence that you should be concerned about using banking apps.

Banking apps themselves, from what I've been told by the personnel at my bank, are secure apps - sort of like the online banking process in general. I would not be concerned with using banking apps on your phone. As long as you password protect your device or have it locked via another fashion (password, PIN, fingerprint, secure face unlock) and maybe install a password manager app to be a little extra cautious, I would not be too concerned about this (and that is more about protecting your privacy from people potentially picking up your phone and seeing your information).Try not to worry!

Edit: You can always contact OnePlus' customer service about this if you are concerned. I really a really good AC article about OP's state of affairs after the data "breach," etc; and it looks like OP is encouraging customers to reach out if they have any concerns.
