Do any of you have concerns over the same thing that happened to Huawei happening to One Plus? I don't want the phone to turn into a paperweight in 6 months. I am sort of reluctant to keep the One Plus because of that concern. Huawei made some nice phones so, i am disappointed that the phones aren't an option any more.

OnePlus is sold at T-Mobile. That should give you all the confidence that these manufacturers are in completely different situations.

Huawei was more than just phones, they are a global multinational company that provides other communications equipment, building networks/infrastructures, services, business needs, etc. Trumpy got worried because of their reach outside China and it's potential.

    One Plus only makes cellphones.

Buttttttt if the fear mongering rhetoric were true, wouldn't 1plus, Xiaomi, or any other phone manufacturer from China be under the control of the Chinese government and capable of spying on the uses of their devices too? Just saying.

I wouldn't worry about One plus its Huawei 3rd cousin. They use snapdragon chips and lots of Google services, when you see them making their own chip ,selling 5g network ..RUN

I would not worry about that. OnePlus is technically based out of Hong Kong I belive. Also one plus just makes phones and good ones at that. If one plus is in trouble then almost every mobile phone is Earth would be as most are manufactured at least some part of them in China. So that would mean apple, Samsung, LG, Moto/ Lenovo. Etc.

If you do your research you’ll be glad to hear that Huawei is the only big Chinese phone brand to be remotely controversial (politically). OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo etc are all safe choices.

Never say never. Huawei are about to release their own HongMengOS. Xiaomi and Oppo have already been testing HongMeng on their own devices to possibly run Android AND Huawei's firmware in different regions perhaps? This could be seen as a problem if they're collaborating

The concerns about Huawei (real or not) is because of their telecommunications equipment not their phones. I wouldn't worry about OP.

Did you? Phones are not telecommunications equipment. They are devices that connect to the network, which is made up of said telecommunications equipment.

I don't think OnePlus will get involved being that Huawei could potentially lose 30 billion because of the ban.

While I think most people here know what I was saying, let me be more specific. I was talking about infrastructure equipment that Huawei makes. Oneplus does not compete in this market therefore, I'm not worried they will be blackballed.

I agree. Huawei's telecommunications equipment is the only part of their business subject to security concerns. Their phones have nothing to do with that and do not represent a security risk...it just happens that the US ban affects them as well, despite the target being the Huawei's telecommunications business.

OnePlus is entirely separate from Huawei (different company/owners) and neither they or brands like Xiaomi/Oppo/Vivo operate a telecoms business and don't present a security risk or are likely to be subject to sanctions.

At&t was planning on selling the Huawei mate 10 in 2018. Before the deal was fully unveiled apearently there were some misgivings in the government over the deal and At&T walked from the deal. Amid the current status of Huawei if you feel Trump is right or not I would not buy a phone from them. And I don't think you can. I know one of the few places that sold them unlocked was B&H and last I saw they didn't have any on their website.

Most other brand are made or the parts are made in China so I would not worry about 1+. They have a carrier partner so that's very positive.
