I have been trying to add another panel on my OnePlus 8 to give me more room to have app icons and I can't seem to find out how to do it. Sooner or later the only two panels will get clogged up with app icons, so have additional panels would be a great benefit. Anyone have any idea how to accomplish this??

    Thank you,
    Gerry D

Welcome to the forums. Long press any icon on your home screen (or app drawer) and drag it "crossing" the right edge of your phone until it opens an empty new home screen.

I would recommend you to create an account so you can reply on this thread.

Javier P that's interesting add method. I'll have to try that. Many Androids you can pinch the screen, a two finger gesture pinching your fingers together while touching the screen, which gives you the options to add widgets, apps and panels. I've gotten the same effect by tap and holding a blank spot on the screen until the options appear.

Depends on the launcher -- e.g., the Pixel Launcher doesn't give you the option to add a panel from an overview screen, while Nova Launcher does.

Yes, that depends on the launcher. Long press or pinch usually works to open the launcher options, but in many phones there's no option to add a blank new screen from there. Dragging to the right is pretty much standard in most stock launchers.

I don't doubt either of you but it just seems odd. Granted I've only ever owned two brands of smartphone, HTC and now Samsung, but not having the ability to add from the screen where you'd be adding a widget seems like a serious faux pas as the new widget could exceed the screen space available. Then you'd have to go out add an icon to create a new page, delete the icon, and then add the widget. There almost certainly has to be another way.

P.S. I did try that method and it worked, but there has to be another way...

You don't need to add an app icon before, just drag the widget from the drawer to the right until it lands on a new screen.

I think this first started with the Google Now Launcher.

With Nova I have a screen on my OnePlus that works as a test playground and sometimes I leave it empty, but this can't be done with the stock launcher. This is normal in phones like Pixel, Moto, OnePlus or any other one with an Android skin close to stock.

    Javier P,

YES, it worked perfectly. Thank you so much for the advice. Why One Plus didn't include this in there instruction sheet is a question that I'd like to see answered. It's a totally different process that I was used to. I've have been using android phones for years and adding a panel on them was much different. l guess that's the price we pay for new technology.

Thanks again and now I know where to head for Android answers.
