So after owning an S9 since the month it became available in the states, I've decided to switch to an OP8T. O was very reluctant at first, as I've only owned Samsung devices for over 10 years. What ultimately made me switch is that I grew tired of lugging around two phones (work and personal, both Samsung). I've had this phone for about a week now and I must say, it's a very smooth device, that often goes underrated. I would have considered the N20U and I'm glad I decided to overcome my reluctance and give OP a shot.

For those that own this device: Do you have any tips or suggestions for how to ensure I have the best experience with the device? I'm keeping the refresh rate at 120hz and am working on transitioning everything from my SD Card to the phone, through an OTG Adapter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So glad you are loving your OnePlus 8T! I've heard that it is a very smooth, seamless experience. Unfortunately I am not a OP owner so I can't give you any tips or tricks - except to definitely take advantage of that Warp Charge feature! I've heard it's amazing! Enjoy!

Warp Charge is AWESOME. I don't even miss wireless charging, considering I can get a full charge in under 40 minutes from 0.

    And thanks!

The only tip for now is to NOT install the latest update. It probably is not available to you as it has been pulled due to major problems. But just in case, be sure to go to the OnePlus USA community site (yes it is horribly bad) but it is the only one in existence where you can follow what it going on. I installed the update and I have ZERO problems as a result, but that could be because I have the unlocked NA variant and I neve use voice assist apps. SO be sure to read up on the issue before doing anything. There may be a few other sites with the same information also.

The Community app included in the phone is a good source for news and user feedback in the OP forums.

I've installed it and I have the T-Mobile variant and have no issues so far.

T-Mobile models have different builds, that problem happened with the unlocked models.

Thanks. I've actually been lurking those forums as well. Did the update before realizing it even had all those glitches and thankfully, no issues I've noticed thus far. Hopefully they release a patch to resolve all the issues. (Unlocked NA variant)

Thank you. I learned about it the same day I received the device and have been visiting the forums daily.

What's funny is that the TMobile version has the IP68 rating but I've watched videos on YouTube where they've proved that the unlocked variant is just as water resistant.

Any suggestions as to how to optimize the camera? It's definitely no Samsung or pixel cam, but I think with the right tweaks it can be improved. Is there another Camera app that works better than stock?

You could try a Gcam port, that's what I use with my OP 7.

One of the most popular is the Urnyx05-Wichaya 3.1.1. You can find different apks and config files here.

Many people switch to the international ROM for different reasons:

    - Remove T-Mobile bloatware and own apps.
    - Flash International (or even European) build. That means more support from the OP community and, probably, better performance.
    - Receive system updates straight from OnePlus and not depend on T-Mobile.
    - Buy a dual SIM tray and use two cards.
    - Easier to sell.

Does the T-Mobile version not bring a dual sim tray? The dual sim functionality was the primary reason I bought this phone, as I couldn't find a better device than this one that gave me this feature.

I think all branded models come with only one SIM card.

Good video on an unlocked 8T getting a water test. Just because it isn't IP rated, doesn't mean it isn't water resistant.

For my Tmobile 1+7P it was single sim , I converted to global firmware and bought the dual sim card tray online to convert it .

If only it were that easy with Samsung devices.. The N20U was my first choice, but after much research, I realized it was an uphill battle to convert to DSDS or active.

Despite the "Never Settle," I guess I sort of did with the 8T, lol. As I mentioned previously, I came from an S9 so I think anything would've been a drastic upgrade at this point. For the value, features and functionality, I'm glad I "settled" on such a great device. I was a slave to the Samsung Gods dor far too long!
