Inferior Human Organs unofficial CM7.1

IHO unofficial CyanogenMod is a port of the CyanogenMod ROM to the Optimus V and S (hopefully the C, M, U, and Vortex will follow).

Note: I've stopped checking androidcentral. It's not a developer or user friendly site, and does not further my goal of sharing information. I grew tired of the hoops that the site moderators wanted me to jump through in order to obtain "recognized" developer status (as the code, apparently, does not speak for itself). Recently registering for an account on webosnation drove this point home. Hiding links behind user registration is frustrating and means that search engines cannot index key information, requiring people to watch flash based ads in order to sign up is just bush league stuff. The final slap in the face was that webosnation (part of the "happy" androidcentral family) requires passwords so complicated that people will invariably write them down (insecure) or just forget them.

Time has passed, faces changed, and progress marches on. The wiki has moved to a slightly different location. Because XDA doesn't hide links, I've updated the first post there (you can even use a search engine to find it, something that the AC crew doesn't seem to favor), and there's now a functional Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich port thanks in large part to Tom Marshall. Big thanks also go Jerry, Leslie, Bob, Gannon, and Rauf for all sorts of things like kernels, OTA updates, build boxes, and the like.

And, as always thanks to at least the following folks for financial support:

JerryScript, punkmaxx, MarMed10, Centinel, mustafu, crpeck, El Schisne, BobZhome, takehull, rb64, yogi4, mrg666, asadullah, szfinland, Ostrich Egg, wilberfan, Whyzor, ejlmd, Centinel, nemo3, and pandacookie.

Without these guys I'd be sober and bored.

If you'd like to help out financially please consider donating:

android_rearview.png

Credits:
Blarfie - For creating the IHO repository, and fixing most of the bugs with CM7 OV ports
AOSP - The Android Open Source Project for creating the offical Android source
CyanogenMod - The entire team for all their hard work creating the best Android Mod available
KermikalElite - For helping me set up my build environment and compiling this ROM

Special thanks to ath3nos - for getting the ball rolling on the S, zefie - for his original work on CM7 port for the OS, mik_os - because he started it all, and many others who I may have left out! Thanks to Danny Baumann for fixing the custom ringtones! Big thanks to Tom Marshall aka tdm for fixing the charge-while-powered-off bug!

STANDARD WARNING-- Flashing any custom ROM may semi-brick your phone!
Follow the installation instructions to the letter!
Always backup your apps, and do a backup in recovery before flashing!
This is a WIP (work in progress)!

This is the Optimus V build of the inferiorhumanorgans repository which is forked off the CyanogneMod7 source tree, the same as ath3nos, but built for the Optimus V and not the Optimus S. No S-to-V script necessary. There is also an optional Green Machine theme built in UOT Kitchen for those who are interested, or you can theme your own if you like.

KermikalElite was the first to build for the Optimus V from the IHO source, and you can find his latest buiilds, and other users builds, in Blarf's OP.

i'll grab this when usb storage works xD but thanks guys, you're the bomb.
also, i'm very curious about how you guys make the rom smoother then it already is, will you ever be able to get it as smooth as bumblebee and what steps do you actually go through and what do you change to make it that smooth? Sorry, i'm just very curious.

Well now you've gone and given me a reason to try another new ROM and reinstall Linux. I hope you're proud :p

I'm still bringing myself up to speed on the Android scene, but after I've gotten my bearings, it'd be my pleasure to help with this if I can. I work as a technical writer and I'm guessing people aren't beating down your door to assist with documentation.

Too tired tonight but definitely going to give this the old college try in the morning. Guess I'll have to actually install Logcat this time to help with bugs and such lol.

Curious. With the thread being called IHO and then yours being under it in another post. Will there end up being multiple roms listed in this thread?

I imagine there will be many ROMs built from the IHO repository. I hope we can all share fixes and improvements to create something greater than the parts! ;)

Me too man, the more the merrier when it comes to making a great ROM for our phones. I imagine a team would end up with a better outcome than a single guy dealing with a bickering thread lol. Best of luck to you guys giving your time and effort to the project(s). :)

Yes, mass storage is broken, this patch will fix it:

Gerrit Code Review

I would apply it by hand for now. Hopefully one of other the CM guys will approve and merge it. I don't plan on making any further changes to vold, so I chose not to fork it.

The new kernel (#39) did /not/ get into Jerry's build. For his next one hopefully it'll get in. I set some stuff really aggressively and interactive performance seems great. The BIG question is what kind of battery life we can expect with these changes.

Edit:

245-748MHz: Quadrant ~1100, AnTutTu ~1700, sftp @ 120KB/s via WiFi and I can scroll in the Twitter app, and Winamp seems snappy
245-600MHz: Quadrant ~900, AnTuTu ~1500, sftp @ 100KB/s via WiFi.

With the 'aosp' kernel I was seeing about 70KB/s with sftp no matter what. Here's hoping it doesn't kill the battery life too much (if at all).

Hey jerry does this include the new kernel blarf was mentioning?

Edit: never mind just read blarf's post.

Ya I got distracted and didn't push out the new kernel until a few minutes ago. Granted, #35 has a few tweaks not related to interactive performance that should be worthwhile.

This rom does run even smoother than at3nos, but I have had it installed for about an hour and it has froze up 3 times now, to the point where I had to do a battery pull, I think it was from go launcher, it showed up on app watchdog. I cleared data and I will see if problem persists

Link to SD worked for me, my phone seems to be running more stable now, it seems to be unstable the first hour, than its smooth sailing

Damn link2sd ain't working for me

Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk

Go to the link2sd app and it will ask you what type of partition you have, pick it than reboot, it should work, I partitioned mine as a fat16, just because it is compatible with every rom. Maybe it wont work with ext3?

Oh, that's a real no brainer. I did /not/ include extfs support in the kernel, altho I have the modules sitting around. As much extra bloat as I included with all the wallpapers, languages, and ringtones, I decided to try and trim as much kernel bloat as possible.

SHA-256 sum for the modules:
Code:

Unzip it, and place the module in /system/lib/modules and that should get everything working.

Looking forward I'll probably include some more modules in the device folder, but leave it up to the ROM builders to determine which to include.

EDIT: Uploaded mbcache.ko for good measure. It may be a dependency of ext2.ko.
