I was thinking about this for a while and I'm only offering this because it might be useful, but I have a hosting plan through 1&1 and noticed that most devs use MediaFire to host roms. I've got 20GB of space and unlimited bandwidth so if you have a ROM you want me to host I can help. This is a no-strings attached offer because I want to give back.

Let me know and I'll set up an FTP account for ya.

Maybe it can be used for mirrors. I like mediafire as a service. It's a great company.

Yeah, it is pretty great but it was down this morning for about an hour. I'm down to mirror... really whatever helps.

The problem with using someone else's account is that they go down.

Websites come and go.
I too have a server, it has 400gigs of extra bandwidth per month, but I don't use it. Leaving my roms on Mediafire means it will be there regardless of what happens with my server.

Many roms that used to be available are gone for this very reason. We have lost recoveries this way as well.

the mirror idea is good, though. extra copies floating around wouldn't hurt.
