ok i installed java 7 jdk and then installed android sdk then saved the android screencast and put my phone into recovery mode (even though it only has a back-lit screen still) then plugged my phone into my pc. i checked my printers and devices and my optimus is reconized by the computer. then open screencast and it says getting device list for about 10 second the a message pops up and says unable to lauch application.
i've about had it with trying to fix this phone.

You can always try doing it the blind way. What you need to try is to load your backup... Unfortunately with the screen not functioning it is difficult.
Let me do some research. And if anyone else would like to chime in with suggestions, wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Boot into recovery and follow shortround's steps very carefully whiles in recovery. Your screen is supposed to be black... Well its not supposed to be black, but you know what I mean.

If you wish to try it blind... Here is the key sequence:

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
If not done exactly, it could mess even more up!

D - Volume Down Button
U - Volume Up Button
C - Camera Button
B - Back Button

DDC UUUUC
Pause about 5 seconds...
UUC DC UUUUC
Pause about 10 seconds...
B DDDC UUUUC
Pause about 30 seconds...
UUUUC DC C UUUUC
Pause about 90 seconds...
C

Press each key firmly. There is no auto repeat, so don't worry about that. After you do this it should reboot, and just let it sit... the phone should boot but may take a long first boot.

See if you can get an adb connection.

Connect your phone to your PC... Boot phone into recovery...
Open a command prompt...
Navigate to c:\program files\Android\Android-sdk\platform-tools
Type adb shell
You should get a # prompt

Let me know if you get this far...

If you can download the IHO Recovery: http://inferiorhumanorgans.com/android/iho-vm670-recovery-4.0.1.4.3.img

Go back to the commands prompt and type: mount /sdcard

Then open the SD card in windows and place the recovery file on the root of the SD card

Back to the command prompt type the following:
mount /system
/system/bin/flash_image recovery iho-vm670-recovery-4.0.1.4.3.img

May take a few moments

Then type: reboot recovery

Toto if you want I can screen share your computer and get you adb connected if its possible. I say possible because it needs to be in debugging mode for it to work. But its worth a shot

Doesn't matter in recovery... The restore was botched so he cannot boot normally...
