Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

^^
Yeah, thanks mrg. Clearing app data was actually one of the first things I tried. But remember, most of my testing is on fresh installs.

Thanks. Then, this is not the reason I can't make my phone crash today. Let's see what else we can do to get that kernel message.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

If it helps, I've run Harmonia 2.05 since I've flashed the radio update. Since then, I've had long (30+ minutes) phone conversations, I haven't used text messaging or data at all, and I've been unable to crash the phone (including leaving the phone on for over 60 hours without rebooting it). So possibly it's a data/sms/mms issue? Just throwing it out there.

I'm a heavy txter. I did thid radio update, and update from VM. Sometimes I get Kernel panics so it reboots pronto while I'm sending a sms, or sometimes while its just in my pocket listening to music.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

it has the possibility of helping your signal reception. sort of like updateing drivers on a computer. its hit or miss some ppl see nothing some ppl get a good gain signal and there currently seem to be issues with reboots on custom roms. TDM right after my last post i got a reboot when trying to make a call i dont get a lot of them but i pulled this for you to take a look at. after the reboot i had to go on tapatalk to grab the file location and get it.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

I would really like to see if there is a /proc/last_kmsg after the reboot, and what it says.
Just want to stress how this can be helpful.

Also those of you that have been around for a while do you remember which baseband the Optimus S had major problems with? IIRC there was a process posted on how to update then revert back for root purposes. Plus that particular baseband was horrible for the phone it was creating issues.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

Got a last_kmsg from gunson (thanks!) Unfortunately it doesn't look like there is anything useful or out of the ordinary. So either the host was shot by an internal watchdog and/or the kernel didn't have enough time to write a panic message. :(

Here's the last couple dozen lines:

I'm also having issues with the VM9 update on an old phone. I can provide log data or do testing for anyone that asks. Right now I'm on mirage 4/03. I get frequent reboots when texting, and occasionally a reboot on app load (usually a large app like Facebook or words with friends)

I can now note that the update does seem to have helped my signal as right now I'm posting from a location I previously had no signal from

Have you tried running fix_permissions from a terminal app?

I reflashed the lastest backside build and did that and cleared the sms data and so for no reboots

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!

dont use recovery to run it, it borked my phone, get terminal from the app store and run it from there like this

su
fix_permissions

Yeah, too late. My phone is semi-screwed right now, force closes all over. I'm re-installing the apks from Titanium Backup and then trying again through terminal emulator.

Sorry about that, at least you had backups

I've had a new reboot. I was trying to make a call, chose a number from the recent call log, hit send, and suddenly I'm looking at the LG logo. It was just the one reboot, but in thirteen months that's the first time my phone has ever done that. I'm keeping an eye on things, but if I start getting reboots all the time then I'll take down my guide. I don't want people to nerf their phones by following my directions.

That's similar to my experience. I had it reboot calling from recent call list.
