changing hotspot primary DNS

I've been attempting to change or modify the primary dns On a device Using the tether/ hotspot feature on the OV running BACKside IHO(updated). Information I received from the other device manufacturers state that information goes out, but is not retrieved causing the internet access on the device not to work using this method of connection. Is there a specific DNS number That is known that will work either from virgin mobile or wherever To have this fixed and get working? I'd appreciate a devs or knowledgeable members response and or suggestions/feedback to this issue
