This thread is for discussion of Beats Audio mods of the Optimus V for various OS versions and ROMs
HurrdurrDURP has asked me to take over, and copy his threads OP and make a new thread, due to my excessive availability.

Hello everyone this is my first thread I will actually contribute something to you all... WOOO!

    Confirmed working on:
    Android 2.2(Thanks sellers86!)
    Android 2.3(Made for)
Android 4.0(see below for a separate guide)

[HL]I DID NOT MAKE THIS! I SIMPLY TESTED IT AND WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL

ALL RIGHTS/CREDIT/LOVE GOES TO THE DEVELOPERS OF THE AUDIO MODE(Upgrade imo!)
    [/HL]

[HL]I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE[/HL]

This mod will install the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture(ALSA) along with the beats audio engine.

I always use my OV for music, and this mod made my ears shoot out rainbows after hearing the quality! The hiss is GONE, I can FULLY hear ever little bit of sound that the song plays using the LG EAR BUDS! That is why I am calling it an upgrade, and not a mod; IT IS THAT GOOD!

    What I noticed
    Audio is more clear
Bass is deeper, but not over done
The EQ is more effective and balanced(Thanks to ALSA!)
On low and high volumes I can clearly hear all parts of the song
All sounds from the song is clear and/or hiss is gone/reduced marginally!

    tl;dr AMAZING

    Alright lets get installing

You will want to go to the original thread to get the files: Beats audio + Alsa + AudioFXwidget - all you need for beautiful sound and real BASS! - xda-developers

You want to download this file: beats_by_contradictor_V2.07_Alsa.zip its 2.08 MB

    1. Freeze/delete dsp manager(Make a back-up with TB or your own method!)
    2. Copy over the zip file to the root of your SD card
    3. Reboot into recovery
    4. MAKE A BACK-UP
    5. Go into mounts and storage and mount system and data
    6. Install the zip (TURN OFF SIGNATURE VERIFICATION)
    7. Reboot(Reboot will be a little bit longer, because android needs to recache the audio system!)
    8. Install Audio Fx Widget Link(Optional if you want a EQ)
    9. Enjoy!

This guide was written to make this mod work on ICS(Thanks NiteStalkr)
    Here ya go!
    Code:
This is a little unorthodox method that I found out to work, to get Beats Audio sounding superbly on
Quattrimus AOKP only. I basically got bored, and flash happy, and figured "heck, why not flash several
different Beats Audio files on top of each other, to see what happens." and I was astonished to find out
what the end result was... SUPERB SOUND GLORY!!

Here's what you do.. download the following 3 Beats Audio mods:

    Standard Beats .zip ( BeatsAudiob03414.zip )
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1331702446
    ALSA altered Beats .zip ( beats_by_contradictor_V2.07_Alsa.zip )
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...6&d=1336982589
Awesome Beats ( AwesomeBEATSv3.zip ) (note, even though when flashed alone, you get a half
working DSP, when using this multi flash method, it will not install the DSP Beats manager, just
    the Awesome Beats files)
    AwesomeBEATSv3.zip - 442.76 KB

After all 3 of the above are downloaded, place on your sdcard, and reboot into recovery.
    -Wipe cache, and dalvik cache.
    -Flash "BeatsAudiob03414.zip"
    -Reboot system, reboot to recovery
    -Wipe cache, and dalvik cache.
    -Flash "beats_by_contradictor_V2.07_Alsa.zip"
    -Reboot system, reboot to recovery
    -Wipe cache, and dalvik cache
    -Flash "AwesomeBEATSv3.zip"
    -Reboot system.
--NOTE!-- I'm pretty sure all EQ's will be broken when flashing these.

Enjoy the unorthodox method of getting "3x" Beats Audio on Quattrimus. :D
    -NiteStalkr, out.

If you have a XDA account, its not that hard to thank the dev for all their hard work!

Thanks to RockoDev for (MOD)Beats Audio(2.3+up)
Thanks to contradictor from 4pda for experiments and new version with instruction.
Big thanks to Lovetz for combining the two and making a flash-able zip!

I see it says beats is for quattrimus aokp only. CM9 should work too, right since aokp's base is cm9?

I almost forgot about this thread!
The method I mentioned, worked only in aokp, when I tried it in cm9, it produced force close errors.

You could. I wanna go over to aokp and check it out again. haven't tried it since like, alpha 11. Kinda didn't like it then for the simple matter that it didn't have a data toggle in the notification drop-down. Haha Does it have one now??? That would probably make the switch worth it.

Nope, still doesn't. Supposedly, some app called Dazzle in the Market has a widget for it though.

Ahhh shucks. I don't want a widget haha. there's gotta be a way to mod in a data toggle. If they didn't have that swag toggle they could have a toggle that actually does something...

does aokp have dsp? Perhaps that's why cm9 produces errors; it has dsp.

But the swag toggle is what makes AOKP so awesome..
When you say/do something with intention to impress the ladies, but fail horribly, that's when you take out your phone and "turn your swag on". Its a great conversation starter, and breaks the ice pretty well. xD

hahahah! XD "so, go...movie me with will you?" *pulls out phone, turns on swag* "The name's Bond. James Bond. Let's go to a movie."

hahaha. funny stuff. I'm going to try it on cm9, and if it fails, I'll take a look at the logcat, and if I can't figure out the problem, I'll upload the logcat for someone to take a stab at.

    aha yea xD

And during this week, I'll see what I can cook up with a working beats mod for both CM9 and AOKP, using quattrimus as the test rom.

Is it automatically enabled then, after flashing it??? because I just flashed those things in order, booted up, and started listening to music and I THINK the sound quality is better. I can actually hear the bass line on Seven Nation Army on the external speaker. I think it's working for me...

    For cm9, or aokp?
And yes, its automatically enabled upon flashing.
You should try it with some ear buds.
    I use cheap Sony buds.

cm9!!! Yeah, I put earphones in too(cheapies as well), and the sound flowing from them was beautiful and so much more full than it used to be. I saw a mod once about boosting the sound, not sure what that's called, it might be an app, but if I were to use that, would Beats still work well, or would it lose some of it's magic?

    aha, it's called xloud.

I'm not exactly sure, but it wont hurt to try. Usually, beats mods don't play well with equalizers. Not sure about other audio enhancements.

Are you wiping cache and dalvik cache, and booting after each flash?

    Hmm strange..
Well when you try again, make sure you wipe both cache's, flash, reboot system, after each one, and make sure you do so in order.

I'm curious if anyone has seen a difference in sound when they change the various settings on the beats app.

I installed this and beats will occasionally stop when first start playing music. Otherwise it seems fine. Though, it doesn't seem like there is any difference in sound when I change the various settings on the app. I'd say the sound may be slightly better than before installing, but the difference doesn't seem very noticeable to me.

Beats+EQ mods are still a WIP, it needs to support ARMv6 devices, more specifically our line of phones.
Our devices are currently not officially supported with the devs, but hopefully it will be fully functional, I too would like a working beats+EQ mod on my phone.

I was, in fact, very leery/iffy about this as well at first....

It has changed the overall clarity (using Altec buds btw) and bass management. I was impressed and forgot about Dre. lol
As far as an EQ, I'm using the recommended AudioFX app/widget to adjust.
PPL have to remember though, the quality can only go so far as the download--i.e. bit-rate, source, etc. I always preview my songs before a full download.

I don't believe a change in ROMS would affect this audio flash--it should be set in stone unless you recover to a ROM before this MOD still using DSP..
Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

*Someone made up another thread basically on this AGAIN----
But this is what I posted in the "Music lovers" thread.
