Re: [Kernel][android_kernel_lge_msm7x27-3.0.x (3.0.8)]

beta 2a up.
fastcharge enabled, but none of my usb ports will push more than 428 mA, so I can't check it.
it's 2a because I don't like it disabling adb and mass storage, and I'm pretty sure there's another way to tell it to use a different amount of current without saying the connection is always a wall-charger. 2b will use that. It's not up yet.

beta 2b up.
fastcharge enabled but toggle directly changes current instead of changing charger type. so adb and mass storage work while fastcharging.
need testers, like I said above my usb ports won't put out over 428 mA.

Ever since the Android Central Forums app login went south on me I was forced to use the new Android Central app. With it I'm not able to copy links, but most important, I don't see any of your links or code in the first post. They just show up as picture icons.
Had to use desktop to see everything.
Just downloaded will move to SD card and flash ROM.zip, Remove charger.zip, Kernel.zip, Virgin fix.zip (minus the /system/usr folder), then the Gapps.zip. Is that the right order?

Hmm so in 2b will fast charge still require a widget or terminal command to enable or will it just default to the faster charge rate?

I flash ROM, kernel, virgin fix w/o keyswap, removecharger, then Gapps. I doubt the order matters much as long as Gapps goes last and the Rom goes first since none of the other files overlap. Once I see if my fastcharge mod works (2b) I may package the removecharger into the kernel zip to simplify things and archive it with the .rc files.

2b is identical from the user side except the USB stuff isn't disabled while it's running.

Here are 3 scripts for the terminal.
View attachment fastchargescripts.zip
fcon.sh turns on the fastcharge, fcoff.sh turns it off, and current.sh displays the charging current.
usage:
put them on the root of your sdcard.
Code:
sh /sdcard/fcon.sh
sh /sdcard/fcoff.sh
sh /sdcard/current.sh

Really kind of early to start thinking along these lines but... I'd bet you could get rid of some of the extra zips using an aroma installer to specify what rom it's going on.

I liked that when I looked into it.
I could also combine things into a single zip file.
I want it all the way I'm happy with before I go combining things, though. And it's getting simpler with less zips to choose from currently.

AnTuTu score 1466
ROM: Bean_Whiz v2.2.2CX (SlimRom with some different tweaks and Galaxy S4 look).
Governor: Interactive
CPU min: 480MHz
CPU max: 729MHz

Note: This was a clean install of ROM with nothing installed but AnTuTu and Fast Reboot.

What score with the 2.6.35 kernel and same clock settings?

Re: [Kernel][android_kernel_lge_msm7x27-3.0.x (3.0.8)]

Will post as soon as my battery recharges (I always let it get below 30% before charging) and I can flash another clean Bean_Whiz v2.2.2CX ROM.zip (supplied with thekravens 2.6.35.7-CAI-test23-HK) and the Virgin fix.zip and the Gapps.zip.

Just using computer USB to charge. Will move to wall adapter.

EDIT: Decided to try the fast charge scripts. Put them on the root of the sd card. Ran sh /sdcard/fcon.sh from terminal. Will see how fast it takes to charge to 100% from 75% just on the USB from computer.

It took one hour and 10-15 minutes to charge from 75% to 100% with USB and fastcharge script.

The supplied kernel in the Bean_Whiz (aka the SlimRom), and the same CPU setings as previous post (InteractiveX due to no Interactive governor), resulted in a 1604 AnTuTu score.

can you post output of current.sh with fastcharge toggle off and on?
It is also possible your usb is like mine and won't push all that is requested.
Or maybe the kernel won't pull more than 428 mA.

Re: [Kernel][android_kernel_lge_msm7x27-3.0.x (3.0.8)]

It seems the kernel wont pull more then 418ma for me... I know my ports can do it they have before. Also with a wall charger plugged in and detected correctly as AC it still only pulls 418.

I tried
Fc enabled on usb
Fc off on USB
AC charger

All results in the same charge rate

Oh and this is on 2a

Update: hmm different wall charger 428ma.... Whats it supposed to be with a wall charger?

Update2: charger mentioned in previous update also dropped to 418ma after a few minutes

Fast Charge works great with the kernel supplied with the Bean_Whiz (AKA: SlimRom).
I already deleted that clean install, sorry.
I might not be able to get back to it for a couple of days. Busier than a one legged man in a **** kicking contest.

//edit:
by the bye, atrain gets credit for calling out charge current issues first.
