Help with Unroot, custom rom/kernel, returning phone to VM

So my Optimus V's microphone doesnt work. It doesnt capture voice right, it sounds almost like the mic is way up there in the phones body.

so I called VM and theyre sending me a replacement.
now I gotta return my phone back to the stock rom and kernel.

only problem is i dont know where to get that and how it works.
Im running cm7 and ive tried google but i seem to only find stock roms with custom kernels and confusing instructions but i guess thats cause im new to this rooting thing.

really, I didnt know you could mix and match kernels and roms

you know more than me so i got a specific question.

if im running gingerbread (cm7) on my phone and it has a gingerbread kernel and i flash the stock 2.2 rom will the kernel cause any problems?

I have jury duty this week so i haven't had time to do this but I think i can do it today if i get a response

if u dont wipe everything u will have problems.
