upgrade to 2.1 problem

I just acquired an X10 and I'm trying to put SonyEricsson's 2.1 on it. I downloaded the PC Companion and the Update Service from their website. PC Companion tells me "your phone is up to date." I've done a "repair" (only option available to me since "my phone is up to date") through both the Companion and the updater. I'm still running 1.6.

Is there a way to make this work?

If its an AT&T phone you need to debrand first. I used the divinci team to do this. Then use Sonys update program and it will let you update to 2.1

You can check the Forums over @ XDA too...There's a HUGE tutorial on how to flash it to 2.1 there...

let me know how it goes if you do it. I have been on the aprehensive side about doing it, but AT&T is dragging their feet to much for me.
