One of the biggest questions with this device I think is going to be how good (or bad) their custom overlay of Android is going to turn out to be. The specs speak for themselves, but hopefully they didn't wash it out with a garbage UI.

Well based on some of the videos I've seen of Herotab's 802, I'd say it's not bad at all. Hell it's damn near AOSP with just a few tablet oriented changes. The best part? UNLOCKED HDMI.. which means Angry Bird on my 50 inch lol...

Also, z4root seems to work on all of Herotabs tablets, so I'd assume that it works with the 816 as well. Which means easy rooting and nothing less than awesomeness lol.

I'll take your word on that...unlocked HDMI is NICE! I'll definitely be looking into this some more, because now this suddenly is very VERY tempting...

Here's a video of the 802 showing off the unlocked HDMI output (at 1080 too btw)
YouTube - HeroTab's HDMI out & HD video demoed on Sony Bravia

And here's a video review of the 802. Based on what I see, it looks to be practically AOSP with just a few tablet oriented tweaks. Keep in mind, the 816 is a completely different device (so it wont look like a complete iPad knockoff, but a legit tablet) but I believe it's gonna have the same OS. This thing looks like pure win man. I just wish it had a capacitive screen. but honestly, with those specs, I can easily look past that... at least it's a resistive multitouch

That's the closest we've seen to stock yet for a tablet. I'm glad the 816 is going to look different, because the 802 from the looks of it is a complete iPad knockoff when it comes to the physical design haha.

I'm definitely going to be keeping a close eye on this one, thanks for posting!!

Ya resistive sucks.. BUT at least it's still a multi-touch. Also from what I've read their resistive screen are actually really good.. But honestly, with those specs... I can easily look past the resistive screen. 1.2ghz, UNLOCKED HDMI (angry birds on my 50 inch lol) basically AOSP, Android Market, plays 1080, the list goes on and on. Honestly, if this thing had a capacitive screen, i'd say this would be an easy pick over the Galaxy....
