Straight Talk speed test

I just activated my Straight Talk service yesterday on my Note 2. One of the first things I wanted to do was a speed test. I'm using the Speed Test app off Google play.
It will ping the server and test uploading fine, however when downloading it just suits there for a few seconds and then the graph depicts a plateau. The result is always 8kbps.
Does anyone know why this happens? The data works fine for all other apps (seemingly). I was interested to find out the difference in my local areas between Verizon LTE and HSPA+.

It seems Qip speed test works, but not the usual speed test most of us use. Maybe software hiccup on my rom. I was thinking I might have had bad APN settings. This can't be the case if one is working though, right?

Take the proxy out of your APN if you put it in--a lot of users have been reporting that Speed Test doesn't work right with the proxy. Leave the MMS proxy, though.
