a question about the kyocera hydro c5170 phone

I need some help with a hydro c5170 phone. I got phone talking to the laptop via the usb cable and I can download files to the phone but I can't find the files on the phone. The manual isn't much help.

I have one other question. There is a download directory that I see when I hit the icon to go into the install app's page on my phone. When I am looking at all the directory's in my phone from my laptop I see a directory download that I have install app's stored in but when I look at the download directory from the phone side it is empty. Is there more then 1 directory named download? I think there is and one that I see from my laptop is on the sd card and the other one is in the root directory. If this is the case. How do I get at the download directory in the root directory from my laptop?
