Weekly Photo Contest: Back to school

Back to School and that means I get to buy colored pencils from the store to use for a photo contest. (Sorry that is about as cool as my story gets. My kid is only 3 years old and I stopped going to school 12 years ago. lol.) I will say however, the pencils were on sale because of a "Back to School" special.

Shot with my HTC One. Editing using Android App "Aviary" and some cleanup in Photoshop to remove some of the reflection of the colors showing up on the white paper.

I'm a recent switcher from Apple and I'm digging the world of Android big time. I check AC on my phone and laptop constantly. Thanks guys!

Weekly Photo Contest: Back to School Entry

There?s nothing like the dull lap of water at your hull to get your head into a summer reading book. My grandfather bought this boat in ?63 and to this day there?s nowhere I?d rather pass the fleeting moments until the first bell rings.

Shot with my Galaxy S3 (whose camera never fails to melt my mind), and edited with the free trial of Adobe Lightroom 5.

(And for those of you adventurous literary zoomers out there, yes. That is Catch-22.)

My daughter's first day at her new learning center. This is the first of her many 'back to school' days.

As a stay at home dad for the last year and change it is a very poignant scene. My daughter, the one who I have been around constantly for 3/4 of her life, is now walking away to start a new adventure. It is both a joyous and heartfelt occasion. I'm happy that she is beginning her new adventure, but sad because I have been with her all day, every day for so long.

I hope that everyone who has children, remembers their child's first time to be dropped off and thinks about how lucky they are. I know I'm the luckiest man alive!
