Transfer pics/video over usb

Hello, I have a moto g stylus (2021) and I'm trying to transfer photos and videos to my PC over usb. I plugged my phone in and set the usb connection to both file transfer and ptp and neither of them allow me to see pictures on my phone. If I select SD card I can see pictures that were saved when I had the card in a previous phone but I can't find the pictures on my current phone. I've also looked under the internal shared storage of my current phone. Am I missing something or is this a "upgrade" from google that forces you to transfer photos using google drive?

Did you format the SD card as adoptable storage in your previous phone? If so you will need to put it back in the old phone and then change to portable storage after moving the data to internal storage on the old phone. https://www.androidcentral.com/adoptable-storage

Welcome to Android Central! In Windows File Explorer, what are you clicking on to look for pics on your phone? Are you navigating to the /DCIM/Camera directory?
