Started in my bathroom after the local chili cook-off.

I should ask my son, he's a published zombie fiction writer. I'll get back to you.

Here's my son's response, "It depends on the source material, in world war z, it originated in China, one of the villages flooded by a new dam is looted by divers and is infected by a person who didn't excavate."

And this about The Walking Dead... " Kirkman said he will never say how and why in the walking dead."

And this, "Night of the living dead is from radiation from a satellite falling back to earth. Return of the living dead, the virus is military deved and tested (supposedly in Vietnam)."

From Jay Franklin, Writer of 'In Life, Everyone Dies' and 'Red Band!' and soon to be released, 'Red Band! 2'; ironically about a Zombie outbreak at the Texas State Fair related to the Chili Cook Off. It's very politically incorrect, lol.

Apparently not, The Walking Dead is going strong. World War Z is coming out soon with Brad Pitt. The dead walk on...

Then this book is for you -- "Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End," by Manel Loureiro. About as real life as it can get.

I'd rather take on the challenge of a real-life massive cash donation apocalypse.

    Or, y'know... A hamburger apocalypse.

Or heck... How about a bacon apocalypse?

Regardless of how the zombie or any other type of apocalypse begins, I am as prepared as I need to be for about the first 6-8 months we should be fine.

Being a bay area native i think Alcatraz is a place to call home. Unless the Zombies were like the ones in Land of The Dead and can go underwater.

I would throw a cow catcher on the front of my semi and mow them down. And at 1000+ miles I can go on a tank of fuel, not much time spent vulnerable having to refuel all the time.

hmm not a bad idea; + there are places with supplies for the tractors all over the place and could get a reefer to store groceries...

Awesome; I do analytics and logistical modeling at a DC. I work for the transport carrier, but I'm physically located in the DC for Target.

We'll have to team up in the ZA to help run supplies. I work for an outside contracted carrier, but work out of a Walmart DC running both perishable and non-perishables. Our reefers have 3 temp zones so I could run a variety of different foods in one trailer.

I am fairly well stocked as far as weapons and ammunition goes. So if you need an armed escort look me up.

Alcatraz would get overrun by the non-infected fleeing for safety. Only the most BA ruthless kingpen who had minions of thugs with guns would manage to survive on that Rock, but even then they would starve and run out of food. Of course if the zombies could swim or walk underwater, they'd all die anyway.

But I do think remote islands, would be the only place where humanity might survive. They'd be the only place where the non-infected could win and stay ahead of any infected who managed to get to the island. Unless the Zombies could march across the ocean floor. The only other place might be high altitude mountain ranges. Unless Zombies don't get cold.

BTW on the SyFy channel they just showed Zombie Apocalypse (TV 2011) -- I don't think that is the same ZA movie that you guys/gals are talking about in this thread, but I thought it was pretty good. The Zombies didn't have all that much make-up on since it was a low-budget flick, but it was kind of interesting to see a different kind of Zombie.
