The problem here, as it is in most countries, is not the government. Bad government is just a symptom. The problem is the people. We, the present day people of this country, and for a number of generations in various different (and some same) ways, are to blame. We elect the wrong people, we fail to hold whomever it is that's in office accountable, we do not oppose bad laws, we do not hold ourselves accountable, we quite evidently do not believe in legitimate government transparency and accountability, we do nothing to curb what our government has, for instance, been doing internally and externally since at LEAST the late 1940s vis a vis intelligence gathering, manipulation of other governments or peoples, continued degeneration of various central authorities to where now you don't know if you can/should trust the Federal Government more than State governments, or State governments more than the Federal Government, or the People more than either of those two, or either of those two more than the People, allowed our economic system to be perverted and our currency to be turned into a fiction, etc. and so forth.

I, frankly, believe the situation has gotten so out of hand and the entire environment has degenerated to the point that, absent some sudden and permanent solidarity amongst We The People, there really *isn't* anything to be done, except to try and get out of the way before something monstrous shakes loose and falls on you. This country, for absolutely NO GOOD REASON, has turned itself into a lost cause, and I hate that more than words can ever express.

I just did a Google image search, and was like, "Oh! That's what those things are called." I've seen them (mostly in like tv shows or movies) and never really paid that much attention to them before.

If you have a particular interest about firearms in movies or TV, I would recommend that you consult the Internet Movie Firearms Database (imfdb).

    Internet Movie Firearms Database

That site has a lot of information on popular firearms. For example, if you had a question on the AK-102, you could check out its entry (which happens to be the same page as the AK-47 since they are closely related):

    AK-102

    From the website:

The AK-102 is a modern day AK that is the carbine version of the AK-101

    Specifications
    (1990s - Present)
    Type: Carbine
    Caliber: 5.5645mm NATO
    Weight: 6.6 lbs (3 kg)
Length: 32.4 in (82.4 cm) (stock extended), 23.1 in (58.6 cm) (stock folded)
Barrel length: 12.4 in (31.4 cm)
    Feed System: 30-round box magazine
    Fire Modes: Semi-Auto/Full-Auto

Two of my favorite articles from the Internet Movie Firearms Database include the "Auto 9" and "Painless":

    Auto 9 (link)
This is the weapon used by RoboCop. It's a modified Beretta 93R which claimed to have a 50-round magazine. (That's only possible in the make-believe world of Hollywood, of course.)

    Painless (link)
This is the modified M134 minigun used by Blain (played by Jesse "The Body" Ventura) in the movie, Predator. It holds 550 rounds in its ammunition canister. If you fired it at its maximum rate, you would expend all that ammunition in 25 seconds.

And only RoboCop could fire it and remain standing. ;-)

A US gun manufacturer in Utah has refused to sell precision rifles to Pakistan, because the weapons MAY at some point be used against our troops.

Violence does not come from the barrel of any gun, it comes from the heart of the person using it.

As far as not making guns I will pass, history shows us there was way to much war and violence before the gun.

Get it right man. ALL business is evil and hates humanity. Don't you watch msnbc? The second someone makes it above the poverty line they are the enemy.

Only Republicans that are above the poverty line are the enemy, at least if you watch MSNBC or are a Democrat...

I think Desert Tech is just looking for their 15 minutes of Patriot fame. Another American manufacturer will pick the contract up.

Because we've seen what the most stringent gun laws and bans have done for the crime in Chicago.

So a business owner having a conscious about how his product (precision rifles in this case) is only serving his or his companies best interest by turning down a contract worth several million dollars...

As far as another company picking up the contract, well that is possible. But I believe that this company did the right thing for the right reason.

You make it sound like that's the only reason they did it, I can't see how any publicity they get from this will make them more money than the contract they turned down would have...

Whenever somebody runs to the pedestal like that, it's for their 15 minutes of fame. Look at what I've done for God and Country! They're looking for praise. To me, that 100% phoney bologna.

Some people do actually try to do the right thing. Even when the "gun people" do the right thing they're accused of doing it for the wrong reasons.
