Rooting for battery life

I have a HTC Rezound, and though I am fairly tech savy and somewhat confident I could root my phone without incident.
However the only thing I wish to change about my rezound is to increase battery life. I wouldn't mind being apple to delete verizon junk, but that's not really that impt to me. Also wouldn't mind getting ICS but I can wait a few weeks(got my phone a couple wees ago).
Is there any way by rooting to increase my battery life(without fiddling with CPU/motherboard and risking frying my phone)?

The biggest thing if you just want to root is getting rid of the junk. It does help the battery. What you could do so as to actually mess with anything is to root, buy titanium backup and freeze the apps. They won't ever suck the battery out and if you want to go back for some reason, just un freeze.

Personally, if you root and am going to freeze things. I would go to ics first because there are power management settings that gb just does not have that help imho.
