Which is the best name for the next Nexus 7? (same also apply to Nexus 4 and Nexus 5)

Nexus 7
Nexus 7 II
Nexus 7 III
Nexus 7 IV
Nexus 7 V

or

Nexus 7
Nexus 7.1
Nexus 7.2
Nexus 7.3
Nexus 7.4

Nexus 7
Nexus 7B
Nexus 7C
Nexus 7D
Nexus 7E

The same with Nexus 4, Nexus 10. And if Google sells Nexus 5 and Nexus 8 in the future, those too will use the unified naming system. Consistency makes easy marketing.

When/if Google and Motorola make the Phone X as a Nexus also....

Nexus X
Nexus X2
Nexus X3
Nexus X4
Nexus X5

or

Nexus M
Nexus M2
Nexus M3
Nexus M4
Nexus M4

I wouldn't be surprised if Google continue to sell these devices and their later generations

Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 7
Nexus 8
Nexus 10
Nexus X

and Chromebooks

Could they just keep the same name and have different model numbers or something? Macbooks are updated every year and they're still just called a macbook.

Nexus 4

Well, its suppose to be 7.7 inches and made by LG. So they might leave the Nexus 7 where it is and just add a Nexus 7.7.

:D

For the tablets, they could name them after the internal names, like Guppy or whatever the Nexus 7 was.
For the phones, they should just name them the "nexus that is less than acceptable" unless they actually decide to make a phone with top of the line specs including LTE

I was just wondering why Phones need to have a new name every year while something like the Macbook Pro gets a spec bump every year and is always just simply called the "Macbook Pro". Not that I think it would happen, but I wouldn't mind if it just got a spec bump every 6-12 months and was just always called the Nexus 4. Same with the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.

I would be fine with how Apple does it and just name it "Nexus 7 (2nd Gen)"

But the current Nexus 7 has a better than HD screen already.

The n7 has slightly greater than 720p display. 720p is like the price of admission hd resolution. Full hd is considered to be 1080P screen which is what the next one is rumored to have

I understand that.

1280x720 is HD. It doesn't matter if 1920x1080 is "full" HD. 720 is still HD.
