Others have already dismissed this rumour as false but I continue to see news regarding a Google made smartphone later in the year.
Two questions:
1. True or false?
2. What sort of timeline do you anticipate for announcement and release?

I was planning to buy the Nexus Marlin but I could potentially be kicking myself if this came out shortly after.

It is the HTC Nexus 2016 which will be out in a couple months.

Google is not a manufacturer so they'll always contract it out. Doesn't matter who makes it or what labeling is on it, as long as it is the Nexus product line. That line is 100% spec'd by Google.

Yeah I think they have already dismissed this rumor and it's false.
