Flashlight App and Spyware
I did a search and could find no information helpful in reference to the Alpha. I've seen several reports lately about flashlight apps that contain spyware/malware that send information from your phone to crooks. One video circulating says to do a factory reset on your phone to delete the hidden malware that uninstalling the flashlight app will not take care of.
If the phone's flashlight app is under 100kb, it is deemed safe. I notice that the Alpha's default flashlight is not found in the Application Management section of the phone.
Anyone have a idea what it might be called so I can see how big the file size is? I've not downloaded any flashlight; I use the app that came with the phone.
Thanks.......
Re: Flashlight App and Spyware
My Alpha doesn't come with any flashlight app.
Any app can contain malware if you are not careful. Install only from Play store and check the permissions and app producer carefully. Just based on app size isn't good enough. Many malware can download additional stuff after the app is installed.
Re: Flashlight App and Spyware
Strange...... I am running 4.4.4 version and in the Widgets section there is a light bulb icon called "Flashlight". I've looked through every item in the Application Management list and Flashlight is not there so I couldn't uninstall it if I wanted to.
I'm sure it is hidden somewhere in the default apps, I just can't figure out where. I have Malwarebytes mobile and their scan has not detected anything.
Re: Flashlight App and Spyware
It is probably just part of TouchWiz. So, no separate app for it.
