Over the last year, I switched to the dark side, aka Apple, with a MacBook Pro, iPhone, Airpods, iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, etc. I've actually been very pleasantly surprised by just how good that ecosystem is. There are so many small things in iOS that no reviewers discuss, but make it a really good OS, and the integration across devices is really great.

Having said all that, I had to switch back to PC for various reasons. I've missed a number of aspects of Android, and I watched the unfolding so to speak of the Fold. Well, now I've been using the Fold 2 for 5 days, and I'm in love with this device. While the screen is a lot smaller than that of my iPad Pro for media consumption, it's so gorgeous, that I enjoy Netflix and other similar content more on this device.

So now I'm seriously considering using this as both my phone and tablet. Selling my iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPad Pro will more than pay for this device. The Airpods actually work very well with this device. Am I crazy? I know this forum is biased, but asking this on an Apple forum would net me a bunch of completely useless angst.

I use both platforms..I'm also fully in iOS with Mac Pro.. AW5.. IMac.. IPad Air.. Airpods 1 and 2.. You could definitely do iPhone and iPad replace... I think you will be fine... Fold is more than capable of handling daily for both..

I Didn't think I would ever get the fold, passed on the first fold as the screen on the front was way to small. I am trying the fold 2, so far like it. The front screen being narrow is a learning curve for sure. The front screen is intended for quick things but can be used longer if you want to, but using the big screen is where the plus of using the fold 2 come into play. I think I am going to like this phone, gives me the tablet experience as a phone also.

I don't see myself getting rid of the iPad Pro 12.9. There are a lot of use cases in terms of productivity that it just works better than the Fold 2 for me. The Fold 2 works while I'm on the go so I don't have to lug the iPad around with me, but if I'm at home sitting on the couch and need to remote into my office PC, I'm using my iPad Pro 12.9. Even sitting around the house and consuming media it would be my first choice. The thing it can't do is be an all in one device on the go, and that's why I have the Fold 2.

Have you tried remote desktop from DeX? Now that's a nice experience as well. I rarely turn on my home PC. Just connect DeX to my Monitor and do my work while using my phone at the same time. Super convenient.

Unless you use the iPad for creative work then you can definitely get away with selling it.

I'm in both ecosystems and recently purchased a Tab S7+, which I was trying to talk myself into returning so that I could buy a newer iPad, primarily for the cross-platform integration, which I miss. I literally have an iPad Pro sitting in my Amazon cart right now and have almost pulled the trigger several times in the last week. I've had the S7+ for 2 weeks and the keyboard case just arrived yesterday, which I didn't think I would ever use. But I really like it and can't imagine returning either. I'll get a newer iPad at some point but, right now, it can't touch this experience, even though there are things about Samsung that I hate.

So I think you do what works for you. If you're keeping the MacBook Pro, find ways to integrate your Fold with your Mac, i.e. using Google Keep or Evernote for notes, which is available on OSX, a browser that will allow you to create bookmarks that you can access on the other device, etc., etc. Unless you need to recoup some money on your Fold, consider keeping the iPad for a little while, just in case you find yourself wanting a larger screen after the newness of the Fold wears off a little.

Oh yea Dex is great I just like using the iPad pro with the "magic" keyboard when connected remotely to my office pc. Just much simpler working with excel files, blue beam pdf, autodesk, and our office accounting programs. I suppose I can get a bluetooth keyboard and it work similarly but I like my setup now.

I thought I could live in iOS using both iPhone and iPad Pro with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It just felt odd to me and having to learn new tricks to do what I already know on a PC. Due to circumstances I switched to Linux on a 2008 Mac Pro and use a Note 9. It works very well and I'm comfortable in this environment. So it really is up to you to find that comfort level. I don't mind being the odd ball around my iOS family and friends.

Great feedback. I'll hold on to the iPad Pro for a while.

Honestly I think you would get just as decent of feed back on the imore forum. Yeah there are some apple purists, but there are just as many android purists on here. A majority of the people will tell you get the phone that works best for you.

Yes, I agree. I ended up switching back to the iPhone. Found the Fold a bit too bulky to do things when in a rush. Anyway, we have a lot of good options - that's the good news.

Really... Do you have a small iphone? I find the narrow front screen on the fold 2 to be the opposite of too bulky to do things fast, that's what the front screen is designed for. Quick glances, fast one handed replies and other general things, then open it up for the 2 handed usage big screen experience. As others have said though, get what works for you, doesn't matter what works for us.
