SMS message app for messages from a different phone number

Is it at all possible to set up a text app to get messages from a different number?

I have my regular phone on Verizon. But I can set up their message+ app to get texts on my galaxy tablet .

But I have a J3 that is from Boost mobile , that I never set up phone service for, just use it on Wi-Fi mostly for music at bedtime.

Tried to install the same message app, but seems to want to have the phone service turned on.

Any ideas, or just give up?

Tablet talk is what i use. Transmits sms to another device via bluetooth or wifi. Airdroid and pushbullet might have something to suit your needs as well but I'm not sure there. Good luck finding what you need!
