I just watched this review on youtube. Best comparison I have seen to date. Really shows/explains a lot of the differences. Overall the Note wins in all the "important" aspects, at least when considering a tablet. He makes some great points that consumers should know, such as higher resolution doesn't always mean quality in addition to the fact that the processor on the Note is better.

    Take a look!

Hi i am not sure how i will get your response but my personal email is . I am a college student at HACC in PA. I came in contact with a asus. It seemed pretty cool. I watched your video and i also like the samsung. I was wondering if you could tell me which one would be better for note taking? i am into pictures and music which music is 100% to the samsung off your video. Your video was very helpful but before i buy one or the other i want to know about note taking. I was told that if i had the money but samsung but if not buy the asus with the keybored so its easier to take notes with. I would also like to write my papers on it. The reason why i want a tablet is because my lap top is bulky and would love something smaller. My name is nichole and if you could email me back i would appreciate it. Thanks

I have a Transformer TF300 with the dock. Quad core, Tegra 3 , running JB 4.1.1. It should be great, but, yes, the Note processor is so much better (not to mention the extra gig of RAM). The Transformer has been clocking in on Quadrant at a pathetic 3200 or so while the Note is at 46 and change. The Infinity might be a little better, but Asus has a famous problem with lagginess. I hardly ever use my Asus. I don't sell it, because, for one thing, I have a Square Trade Warranty for everything (incuding drops and spills) through the Spring of 2014, and it really wouldn't be worth it.

I have a tf300, my wife just bought the samsung. Plus points for samsung is the web speed. No lag loading pagers, so much better.

Negatives of the samsung are the quality of the camera, even with a flash the camera has poor focussing and is slow so there is a tendency to blurring. The music player sucks on the samsung. It only lists songs alphabetically. That is the entire collection comes up as one long list. I have found no way of selecting albums and then play them in the order they were on the CD. They come out alphabetically. This is the same with my Samsung phone.

The pen and apps that go with it are good on the samsung, but i prefer the keyboard of my tf300. I bought it because i wanted it as a replacement laptop.

The asus has better external connections, such as hdmi and sd card, although i believe there is a special cable from the charger port for hdmi output.

everything else i would say is just about equal

The note has a better user experience than the infinity. The note does things that no other tablet on the market can do, and I use those things all the time. I wouldn't trade my Samsung for any other tablet on the market right now.

I had the same experience! I bought the Note 10.1 when Best Buy dropped the price $50 during one of their weekend sales. I loved almost everything about it and while it occasionally felt slow (ICS), it was more of a relaxed kind of experience rare than the -deer-in-the-headlights- kind of slow the ASUS has. I returned the Note before my 30 days were up because best Buy was selling the ASUS Infinity for $499 and giving away the keyboard dock for free. I told myself on paper the ASUS was the better deal, with a nearly retina screen and Tegra3 goodness. Plus, the Infinity is all metal and glass while the Note, let's be honest, creaks when flexed like a cheap kids toy.

Big mistake. While the Note may be kinda flimsy, it's a WAY better tablet. Even though the Note screen isn't retina, it looked better. And the ASUS lag was ridiculous, even after the Jelly Bean update. The Note never lagged like that. I took the ASUS back after 24 hours. That thing was stuttered and scrolled slower an my friend's gen 1 iPad. The Note is way, way better, and the included software was nice too. I find I like TouchWiz better than stock(ish) android.

Regarding the music player - Provided the music files are properly tagged (including album track number), I find the Samsung player handles album tracks just fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is in your case. Great quick playlist generator also. In any event, even though I personally like the Samsung music app, I have found that many choose to go with a third party music app for their android based devices (regardless of brand) based on which ever app provides the preferred mix of usability, interface, and sound quality adjustments. In other words, I would not reject a particular device solely based on the arcane quirks of a singular stock application, unless that application is unique to a standout feature of the device (such as a s-pen based note taking app in the case of the Galaxy Note) and/or cannot be substituted with an app from the Google Play store. FWIW.

The one item I can suggest for the TF300 would be to use either Dolphin or Boat browser. Go to settings -> Developer and enable "cache to SD". The browser writing pages to SD as opposed to internal has helped me quite a bit.
