My wife recently reported that her Galaxy Tab was running slow. Sure enough it was being unresponsive and kept hanging.

I have done a factory reset and reloaded the apps. The problem one seems to be the Twitter app.

If you open it it prompts you for the username and password of the Twitter account. It then opens - frezzes - and after five minutes it closes again. It never gets any further.

If you look at application manager you can see that it starts running, closes, starts, etc etc.

Has anyone else had this problem and solved it.

I even tried factory reset, downloading ONLY twitter from the play store, and this behaviour still happens. In other words, it can't be conflicting with another downloaded app, but the Stock apps from Samsung or the Andriod opp system.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There are several 3rd-party Twitter apps that you could try so that you can still use Twitter on the tablet but not deal with that one problem app.

Personally, I really like the apps Tweecha and Twitpane. Both of them work well on my Galaxy Note 10.1. Plume is also not bad. If you search the Play Store for any of those, you'll also see recommendations for other related Twitter apps, but I would recommend starting with the first two to see if your wife likes them well enough to use instead of the app that's giving you problems.

Finally, I'm not alone! I've been experiencing the same issue on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and have spent quite a bit of time searching for a resolution online (Android Central, Twitter, and other forums), to no avail. It worked fine on my Tab for the 10 months I've had it but then started this maybe 3 weeks ago. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times, cleared the cache, etc. Twitter either starts and the screen goes all white, or it goes back to the home screen. Inconsistently it has asked for login, but it doesn't always make it that far. I tried Plume and don't care for it and feel there must be a fix for Twitter; if not they (Google Play) shouldn't list it as compatible with my device.
