I just picked up the note 10+ but the OP 8 pro is available again. Give your opinion on which is better. To me, the 8 pro is better on paper but I would like opinions from someone with hands on experience

Specs-wise, the oneplus is better. But that doesnt mean it's better irl. Have you used both?

I have both. Used 1+ 8 Pro for a month and switched back to my note 10+ after issues with the phone app dropping calls and screen edge not recognizing touch issues. I did get better service signal with the 1+ and 5G but I can't deal with other issues. Now waiting for the Note 20 Ultra with 5G.

Thanks for the input. I wouldnt be using 5g on the 1+ anytime soon. It's not in my area

Specs better on paper for the 1+ : higher resolution, 1b colors vs 16 million, 120hz refresh, bigger battery.

Seriously higher resolution? Bigger battery? Colors? Those are very tiny bumps, nothing go crazy.
You forget Note 10+ is one of best calibrated panel and one plus is most likely using its panel. Note has 12gb ram compared 1+8p and starts higher storage 256gb, ufs 3.0 on both, reverse charging on both, fast charging on both, note has SD card, Spen, you get what I'm saying, so no nothing mind blowing. Like I mentioned if you want get for cleaner UI then yeah go for it but spec wise your good with what you have.

The biggest thing OnePlus has in its favour is fast and frequent software updates. I love OxygenOS. It's in the little useful things like screen-off gestures that impressed me initially with the OP3. It's how they've kept a 4 year old phone feeling fast and fresh so many years later. My daughter is still using it, and doesn't want to upgrade, even when I've offered. And it's not lost on me how it went from Android 6 all the way through 9 last year. They've got the software support figured out.

Beyond that, don't get caught up so much on what's on paper. Sure, that will give you indications about performance, but it's not the same as feel in the hand. For instance, my soon to be retired LG G7 "on paper" is far better than that two years older OnePlus 3 ... but I'd still take the old OnePlus over the danged LG any day! And a lot of that has to do with the software. Even if the G7's hardware is better on paper.

Figure out what matters most to you ... specs on paper, or experience in the hand. Which can be hard when you're not a tech YouTuber who gets all of the top flagships thrown at you to use and compare for free!! LOL

I always like the latest so would pick S20 series, OnePlus 8 pro and then Note 10 series in that order

Having used all three phones I would say overall I feel Samsung phones to be more premium experience, better overall than the OnePlus 8 pro. Oxygen OS is clean and great but something was missing overall that it didn't feel like a $1000 phone to me.

I prefer OnePlus. I have never been a fan of Samsung's UI. I have had OnePlus phones since the 3 and prior to that had Moto Xs due to the close to pure Android experience.

OnePlus all out. I like the size, and stylus from Note series, but after using OP versions of Android 9 and 10, soon 11R.. In comparison, Sammy is slow, bloated, and far too restrictive. As well, you know what you are getting with OP, Sammy marketing is shady (100x Space Zoom for example) OP are far more transparent, and open with their customers. In fact thay've gone as far as to poll the public for what features we want in the next iterations of O2OS. Sammy just doesn't care enough about their base, to do such things. Needless to mention update frequency, OP is far faster in this regard than Sammy.

I have the s20 ultra and the OnePlus 8 pro both. Signal, battery life, and display options are better on the OnePlus. Cameras are about equal for point and shoot which is the majority of my photography.

Personally, I don't want a 5G phone if my area doesn't have significant 5G service.
It is just extra baggage that you are paying for that is eating into battery performance.
I like the Note 10+ as the best 4G android phone available.
Having it since launch it actually works better than it did right out of the box (Samsung upgrades).
The other improvements are marginal at best in the way I use my phone.
Maybe the way use the phone requires the extra colors and higher refresh rate more so than the S-Pen.
I will stay with the Note 10+ at least another year until 5G coverage and technology is improved.

OnePlus' operating system, Oxygen OS, is known for being a smooth, easy-to-use and effective operating system with high praise from many users. It is close to stock Android, so it doesn't have the skin or bulk that some other manufacturers put onto their operating systems.
