So we have a USB-C on both ends of our charger cable for the Note 10, so I assume we can use the charging cable from the Note 9 (USB-C to USB-A) to connect to our PC for the DeX function to work?

Otherwise this means the purchase of yet another cable!

I think my PC has a USB-C on the motherboard so it may not be an issue for me but alot of people may not know this.

Since USB-A has only 4 connections (2 for power, 2 for data), any "USB-C on one end, USB-A on the other" cable should work.

Wait, are you saying the Note 10+ comes with a usb-C to usb-C cable out of the box? I don't really mind this because my home laptop has a usb-C connector, but this is curious.

From the unboxing videos I've seen, it's a usb-c to usb-c cable in the box.

It's something to expect with the faster charging. USB C can carry higher power than USB A, so they need it USB C both ends for the 25W and 45W charger. OnePlus devices also started using USB C to USB C when they went to using their Dash and Warp chargers.

Most likely. The problem comes with high powered charging. Standard chargers (like the Note 9 charger) will work just fine with the Note 10, but the 25w charger (and higher) required USB-C to USB-C

It's my understanding that the whole point of USB-C was to eliminate the type A connector eventually anyways. The type C standard was based on using either end of the cord, in either orientation.

And if I needed to charge with brick from my s8+, it would just charge but slow?

Related question: if you use USB-A to connect to a laptop for Samsung DeX, will it charge while DeX is operating? I guess we'll all find out soon!

Well, yes. Because the charger from the S8 is just, 15-18W.

You can also just wirelessly connect to laptop using Flow via WLAN.

Thanks. So the 2019 wireless is 15w, it would be slow charging.

It should. I didn't think to check it on my personal laptop's USB 2.0 connection last night, but I just tried it on my work laptop port replicator's 2.0 connection and it worked fine.

Depends. A USB 3.0 type A connector had an additional 5 deep inside the connector.

For connecting my Samsung S9 phone to my Microsoft Surface Go (Windows) laptop to transfer files between the two devices, I simply connect a USB-C to USB-C cord to my phone and laptop. My S9 phone will show a pop-up window asking to choose whether to transfer files or simply charge. I got my USB-C to USB-C cable from a local store called Central Computers on sale for around $9. My Surface Go laptop only has a USB-C port, hence the need for the cord. Works great!!

The USB-C to USB-C cable that comes with the Note appears to be USB-C and not USB 3.1 which would have supported 10Gbps/100W. Only notable for folks that have a USB 3.1 port on their computer and transfer lots of data between the phone/computer.

I'm not sure I follow. You don't need to connect your phone to your computer to access onedrive.

Yes, I understand you don't have to connect with cable from phone to computer, but can share things, photo's ,documents using the note drive, from phone to computer.

But does the samsung flow app, do the same as using the one drive?

Just wondering which one works best or if they do the same thing?
    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks

They are not the same. Flow when connected to your computer opens a window on your computer where you can drag your files into our out of the phone, open the phone up, even use the apps on the phone from your computer like send messages and stuff.

Onedrive is just a cloud storage solution. Nothing more. Flow cannot replace OneDrive, and OneDrive cannot replace Flow. They are different things for different purposes.
