The title pretty much says it all...

With the Note 10 being released soon, I really need to make a decision and my head is spinning!

I never had insurance on any of my phones (Other than the Note 8 because I was traveling a lot at the time) I went with SquareTrade mainly because that is what I knew having had it on my stepson's phones for years.

Now I don't know if I should bother or not.

Best Buy's Insurance $11.99 a month covers lost and stolen (with a $250 deductible) Cracks ($150) and so on

Samsungs I believe is $11.99 a month with $150 deductible

Square Trade is $8.99 a month with either $99 or $149 deductible

AT&T and then the other 100 or so out there wanting to take your money all have similar plans and deductibles

Am I crazy for not getting the insurance? Everyone I talk to says doesn't go with this one or that one we use genuine parts, they don't etc (why do they all make the same claim about each other!!)

Keep in mind that SquareTrade does not cover theft/loss -- only damage.

I always get some kind of insurance, because the cost of some kind of repair that isn't covered by warranty may often be more than the total amount you pay for the insurance. Most of the time, it's peace of mind you're paying for, but if/when something happens, you'll be glad you did.

Starting with my Nexus 6P, I got Google's insurance plan (Nexus Protect, now called Preferred Care). I was glad, because the 6P slipped out of my pocket at one point and the corner of the screen cracked. I'm usually extremely careful with my phones, but the risk of little slip-ups like this is never zero.

Yes. Through my provider, Spectrum Mobile. I don't remember the name of the insurance company but it's $12 per month.

Food for thought, if there is a best buy Geek Squad Samsung repair specialist in a store near you and you have their warranty plan they will do cracked screen repairs for $60 for the Note 8/9/10s and S 8/9/10s

How much does the warranty plan run? I usually get insurance for at least the first few months with a new phone, then cancel. Trying to figure out what to do with this one. May get Best But insurance when I pick it up Friday.

In the long run, on average, it always costs more to buy insurance than to self-insure (otherwise, insurance companies would lose money and go broke instead of making a profit). The only time insurance makes sense is to cover an event that's extremely unlikely but would be financially catastrophic and irrecoverable (not merely unpleasant and difficult), such as your house burning down.

Everyone should decide for themselves, but for me, I wouldn't buy a phone so expensive that its loss would be catastrophic for me. So I don't insure my phones, and I've never broken or lost one. If I'd insured every smartphone I've ever had, I would have already spent more on premiums than the full cost of a new high-end phone.

How do I know if any of the Best Buys near me have a Samsung Repair Specialist?

I have my phones covered under my house insurance.

I have to pay £100 excess and I'm send a brand new phone.

In the UK most insurances provided by a network usually means a replacement phone is supplied but its not brand new to replace a lost or stolen phone.

This is exactly why I come to a forum! Every salesperson has a job to do... Been there, Done that!! But it was years ago.

I had a stroke 6 years ago, and while I have bounced back 98% there is always that 2% that makes me question myself. My husband has said the 2% makes me more gullible. The crap I would have never bought into in the past (like the insurance) is the stuff I drive myself crazy over now!

Thank You for helping me see the light.

Car insurance, home insurance, boat insurance sure, but phone insurance, no I've never insured any of my phones. Besides who keeps the phone more than a year nowadays anyway.

The only thing I really worry about is my screen breaking....So I buy a Qmadix liquid screen protector for &30 on Amazon. Comes with a &350 warranty if the screen breaks.

Whether or not I use the liquid protector, is my secret...

Yes, carrier. $8.99 covers glass, damaged phone, or lost phone. Glass is $50 replacement, damaged phone is like $150 or $250, I forget, and lost same.

I got insurance through T-Mobile when I ordered mine, $15 a month and covers everything, including lost or stolen.

Deductible for lost or storm is $150 and $99 for damage. If I keep my phone 1 year, I'd be paying $180 for insurance alone, plus any deductible... Doesn't seem worth it.

I was planning on canceling it but yesterday I went to the beach and I left the phone in the trunk of my car, so for a while I thought I had lost it but I wasn't tripping because I have insurance.

So, that made me think twice about canceling it.

I keep insurance through my carrier. year before last I added a policy for screen breaks. after my Note 8 fell from the roof of my car while I was driving on a rocky dirt road (premature brain death), survived the fall and didn't get stolen. I cancelled the small policy. the 10+ will only have my normal carrier policy. I was really impressed with the screen. of course it's all about angle. it didn't land and bounce on the curves or face. that was a very unusual situation though.
