Quick question: how do I move files from Dex to the (Mac) desktop? Can't seem to figure out how.

I can transfer stuff TO DeX by simple drag and drop. But the other way round?

I have the same question, how do we transfer FROM dex to mac?

That doesn't seem to work on a Mac.

I am struggling for some days now to move photos from my Note 10 plus to my Mac, and no older app seems to work anymore. In the past on my old note 8 I could use Smart Switch and Side Sinc on both note and on MacOS to move files from Note to Mac. Unfortunately now Side Sync cannot be installed on my Note10+ since this phone has Dex, and Smart Switch does not let me access any folders or files on my
phone, it only allows for making a backup or restore.

Please someone help me by telling me how can I transfer files through USB-C cable from my Galaxy Note 10 plus phone to MacOS 10.14.6 (other than saving photos to my sd card, poping the sd-card out and copying to MacOS then putting the card back (this is not an option).

Weird - I am on a Mac and have had zero issues with transferring files and media back and forth, using both My Files and Gallery. I'm on Mojave 10.14.6 with the latest Dex version.

Can you explain the process you are using in detail?

Once connected to Dex, I open the Gallery app for example within Dex. Find a photo I want to move, then click and drag it to a folder within Finder or the actual Desktop. Of note, as your are dragging the photo or file, the icon/graphic you're dragging changes into a Dex icon. It was really that simple on my end.

If that doesn't work, I recommend reinstalling the Dex app to see if that helps.

Not working here. Running 10.15 Catalina, Dex 1.0.0.54. Uninstalled and reinstalled Dex. When I try to drag a picture in the gallery it scrolls the gallery.

[Update] Also tried it on a Mac running 10.14.6. Fresh install of Dex. Still didn't work.

So yeah, you should be able to just drag and drop to the desktop. Make sure your Note stays unlocked. It won't work if it's locked.

Weird, not working for me on 2 different Macs.

So question, when you go into Gallery are you clicking the photo or keeping it in Gallery view? In Gallery view it's a little wonky, but if you click on the photo to open it, then try dragging it.

What's wrong with Dropbox?

No wires necessary

Tried both ways. Neither would drag a picture out. Also tried dragging a picture in and no luck either.

Catalina has been pretty buggy. I can try on my Catalina MacBook when I'm back in the office.

Edit: Sorry didn't see your edit that you tried it on a Mojave machine.

EDIT: It worked only with the Gallery app in the Dex. Does'nt work with any other app.

I had the same problem, tried as mentioned by msm0511 and it worked like a charm. Thanks msm0511

What didnt work for me?
I had the same problem, when i tried to move the photo from the file explorer it was just scrolling within the dex window. Was frustrating as nothing was happening beyond that after trying many tricks.

What worked?
I unlocked my phone and open gallery in the Dex and dragged the photo to my Mac's desktop. It just worked. I am running Catalina.

For people whom its still not working please try the below. PS: Not sure if it will work, just hope it does.

1) Unlock the phone and close all the window in your phone and try once.
2) Remove your usb cable connect again while your phone is unlocked.
3) Only use the Gallery app in the dex mode and with your phone unlocked, try dragging the file. I guess this should work.

All the best...

Chiming in even though my set up is Note 8 with Mac 10.13.... So was saddened to hear about SideSync finally axed this month and noticing Flow offered in its place with no Mac support... Thanks Samsung.
Been using Side Sync &/or DeX and both work; have read Note 9/10 users have been able to sideload the apk and download the Mac app on Samsung site still. Give it try as there's success stories out there! Good luck

If you still having the issue, so what worked for me, is going to the gallery app, click and hold a photo until its selected then dragging it to a folder within finder, without ever letting go. again click + hold then drag.
