Trying to get this working. Installed the app from the microsoft store. It sent me the link to my phone in a text message. I said yes to all the permissions. It acts like its trying but it just sits there spinning checking the PC. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I'm on wi-fi

That stinks, sorry to hear it's not working for you. It's working for me. As I recall it was fairly easy to set up and I've been using it profusely.

Dumb question: but did you remember to turn on Link to Windows on your phone's drop down menu?

Oh lol I searched the internet on how to fix this haha. I thought It was just my stupid laptop and because it was connected to an VPN or something.

When you Google it you get a lot of **** results because your phone hits a lot of other results haha.

But glad to read that I'm not the only one.

Think I figured it out. My PC is not on my home wifi network (it's connected with ethernet cable). Found this .....

The Phone screen feature in the Windows 10 app only works when your phone and PC can communicate with each other. They’ll both need to be connected to the same network (for example, your home Wi-Fi).

So its not going to work unless I get a wifi card for my PC.... boooo The PC is connected to the router though that my phone wi-fi connects to, but not the same "network"

Well I have mine setup through cable on the same network and my phone over wifi off course.

I still have the same issue. And yes my VPN is also off.

I will try tomorrow again with wifi enabled on the laptop.

So I don't need both on the same wi-fi network? My PC can be hard wired, and the phone on my home wifi?

I would think both devices would have to be connected over wifi to the same access point to enable this, I don't know because I haven't read up on it, I'm connected to the internet via router/ethernet but I do have wifi on board my PC also which I leave enabled and mine works fine.

I was trying to get "Your Phone" app to work on my S9 phone with my Windows laptop yesterday, but couldn't figure it out. Kept saying it would send me a text message but I never got it after repeated attempts. I gave up.

Are you talking about the Your Phone app? If so, yes. Just so you know, Microsoft having issues with its Your Phone service.

I had much trial and error with it. Make sure you have given permissions / notifications access on the phone app, make sure you have the phone 'discovered' on your PC via Bluetooth settings. I have it working on my home laptop and work PC, but it was a lot of trial and error. The mirroring of the phone screen is cool as well.

Yes and no. You can have Your Phone sync over mobile data. This is handy if you are like me and have unlimited mobile data. If you don't have sync over mobile data turned on then, yes, you must be on the same network.

I got around that because I have an Orbi satellite downstairs and just ran Ethernet from that to laptop so still technically wifi network. Already had set up that way so worked out. Android messages works same way.
