Is Samsung starting to deploy cross-carrier (google) RCS on Samsung Messages?

Someone had posted this article on the FB page and to be honest, I don't know how reliable this is and articles written by bloggers with just one name make me suspicious - that and the fact that the source is just Reddit, and nothing official. In any case, this would be great. I've stopped using Mood, Textra, Android Messages, and Pulse for the time being and started to use Samsung Messages since I've never really used it before and to get the feel for it.

I would really like Google to release the api to access their RCS server, which is what I've heard has prevented other 3rd party messaging apps from implementing RCS in their apps.

It would seem so. Samsung Messages had already supported RCS as long as the carrier supported it. Now it seems that it is taking the Google route and building out an RCS infrastructure.

My Samsung messages app has the RCS chat feature available in the messages settings, I haven't turned it on yet because I don't know anyone else with it
