I teach college math here in Phoenix. This semester I am teaching a geometry for future elementary teachers course, and right now we are working on arc length and circle area. I worked a problem in class on the Note 2 with S voice -- be sure to read all the way down to the bottom, even if you just skim through it all.

We are using arc length to find the distance from Phoenix to Salt Lake City (SLC is pretty much due north of Phoenix)

Hi, Galaxy,
what's the radius of the earth?
3956.6 miles
what's the latitude of Phoenix, Arizona?
33 degrees, 34 feet, 20 inches (galaxy did not recognize minutes and seconds!!)
What's the latitude of Salt Lake City, Utah?
40 degrees, 46 feet, 43 inches
what's 40 degrees, 46 minutes minus 33 degrees, 36 minutes
7.2 degrees (among many other versions of the answer that Galaxy provided!)
What is 2 times 3956 times pi?
7912 pi, and 24856
What is 7.2 times 24856 divided by 360?
497.12

What is the distance from Phoenix, AZ to Salt Lake City, UT?
497 miles.

After that, one of my students pulled out her iPhone and asked Siri
How far is it from Phoenix AZ to Salt Lake City, UT?
We're here to talk about you, not me.

Thank you, Galaxy
It's absolutely my pleasure.
