Bigpond email deleting from galaxy note 2

Hi all,
I'm new here and hope to get some help, I'm baffled and god knows Telstra can't.
My problem is when I go into the telstra bigpond webmail area and clean up the hundreds of emails by deleting them.
they are also deleted on my note 2 some of them I flag and want to keep.
They are not deleted on my other devices, home computer (outlook) or from my iPad or other iPhone.
These emails once downloaded are managed on the device.
So I've been trying to find a setting in the note 2 and the only thing I could find was in the incoming setting and its set to never delete.
If I can't stop this so I can managed them on my phone the only other option would be to go back through all of the emails on the server again and not delete the ones I want to keep which is doubling up everything and very time consuming.
I hope this is enough info to describe the problem.
