Hi guys,

I was just wandering, what kind of quality is the speaker on the Note 2?

I have heard about people who have had crackling noises and such when volumes are turned too high, are the speakers on the Note 2 capable of handling high/max volumes? (without headphones)

Or is that just a general consensus, where on any speaker, if the volume is left too high for long periods, it will damage the speaker, causing the crackling noises?

Thanks!

It has one of the loudest smartphone speakers, probably the loudest after the HTC one. The sound does distort at the max volume, but anything under that is fine.

Consensus on the Note 2 is that the loudspeaker is very loud and clear compared to other phones.

While turning up the volume so high it causes distortion (clipping is a form of distortion) generally isn't good for speakers, this phone will go louder before that happens than most other phones.

Anandtech tested the speakerphone volume here:

Note that they're referring to distortion in the speaker as "clipping".
