On the 11:00 News, they said it was actually, high level "Smoke", drifting East from the wildfires out west if you can believe that! It definitely was a totally different effect than any kind of haze than I've ever seen before, for sure! Glad I got to both see and photograph it!
It is from the wildfires. We experience it almost every summer. The western fires are so bad this year, that the smoke haze has made it to the east coast. We've had 12 wildfires in my state this season, 6 are still burning. Two of those still burning fires started in June & July. An early snow storm passed through last week. The temperature went from the high 90s to the low 30s. That moisture helped with containment a bit.
The haze can create some beautiful sky effects, but it's also sad due to the loss.
