When does 120hz activate?

I'd like to know how it determines when to ramp it up? Like when watch Netflix is it 60?
And is there any apps that can overlay the fps, kinda like FRAPS did on the computer

I think you can display fps with Developer Options but not sure that's always showing or just with apps/video. The 120Hz display 'kicks in' with motion (i.e. scrolling, flipping pages, etc.) and with supported video at that framerate.

I tried looking where I could enable that but I can't find it. Although I don't use developer mode so maybe it's not named easy. I just want to have "stats for nerds" lol

Settings>about phone>software information>build number

Press this a bunch of times and it will unlock developer options. Developer options will show up on the main settings page.
