Anybody tested if turning 5G off will help battery life? Since the LTE is also on the same X55 modem chip as 5G which is separate from the Snapdragon 865+, I wouldn't think there wouldn't be much improvement in battery life if turning off 5G. What's your thoughts?

For me, significantly. Now I just switch to 5G if I think I can download something faster.

With ATT one doesn't seem to have that option. It's all or nothing apparently.

Like any band, if your network constantly searching for coverage. This will drain your battery.

This is what I have under networks. What is Global? I live in a state that has zero Verizon 5G so I don't want it always searching.

Oh, I wish I saw this post before I ordered the AT&T version, would have went with the unlocked version. But I think soon as you put in an AT&T sim card you end up with the usual AT&T limitations. Any on AT&T find a way to turn off 5G?

I have the unlocked Note 20 Ultra on AT&T. No option to turned 5G off, same as on the AT&T-locked version.

That is what I thought would be the case with an AT&T SIM card in it, thanks for the info.

I'll try this and see if my battery life improves. I'm not in a 5g area 90%of the time.

I've turned mine to Lte/3G/2G as I can't get 5G with my carrier in the Uk as I'm a Pay As You Go user i.e prepay so there's little point my phone searching for 5G and using any resources to do so.

For me 5G just helps to future proof my phone if and when i can access 5G and if I want to download files faster which to be honest I don't do now anyway.

Personally don't think it'll affect keeping in the default network mode. If there isn't any 5g connection then it's going to connect to LTE. It's not like it's constantly searching for 5g network. It'll connect to a tower and if it's 5G enabled or whatever then it'll use the 5G mode. I think it's placebo if you are thinking changing network mode is going to help. On the other hand if you are signal/network is generally bad that may affect battery life but not 5G itself and even if it'll it's going to be negligible.
