Why can't I Focus closely on my Note 20 Ultra?

I had the same initial reaction before I realized in most photos it's clear the foreground or background is in focus - that's just different from my prior phone, not faulty or bad. (The natural bokeh is quite attractive in a lot of photos to me, actually.) I do see what you mean about the macro type point and shoot though, the narrow focus explained above. I also tried with my hand and I can see how something like that is frustrating as it kept blurring the outer finger or two vs my other phone.

I've read several comments and posts about this basically say the same thing - the cameras are better, but different to what most of us have grown accustomed to in a cell phone. I am learning how to adjust my point and shoot [lack of] skill to work with it, like learning to rely on the better zoom the N20U offers. (I just used 10x to get clear words on paper further away vs using 1x close up - just new habits needed.)

I figured I'd run with the remote examples, and yes I'll clean the dang thing after seeing it like this. ;)

(Cropped to match looking at the same area knowing these will degrade anyway when uploaded here.)
Attachment 1 N10+ held close
Attachment 2 N20U held close
Attachment 3 N20U pulled back a little (still 1x)
Attachment 4 N20U using the 2x zoom from further away

Great idea to compile some shots to compare! Attachment 4 wins my vote using the 2x zoom.

My remote wants to be famous also. =)

Picked up the dust. Used 2x zoom moving back. Still, it took awhile making adjustments to become in focus.

I'm actually amazingly surprised at the clarity of the zoom. For example this is zooming into my desktop pc screen from my sofa about 10 feet away. Amazing the text is clear. 20200901_173904.jpeg20200901_173856.jpeg

That stupid AppleTV remote is the bane of my existence. I'm constantly losing that thing.

If you guys use the firestick remote, this is a great little add on that also gives it some bulk so it feels more like a real remote. 20200901_174314.jpeg

Lol

I mostly use the Apple TV remote app on my iPhone and this remote only my son or wife uses when they operate.

I don't even use my Apple TV much anymore. I just use the apps on my TV these days. I occasionally AirPlay from my MBP to my TV though. My TV has AirPlay, but it looks/behaves better using the Apple TV.

Yeah I have the Nvidia Shield Android TV and Apple TV. Mainly use Apple TV since that's what I have been using from long time. Use the Nvidia Shield once in a while just to check out. At the end doesn't matter since I just use it for Netflix, YouTube TV and bunch of other streaming service.

If it picked up the dust....then its working as needed...lol. I just have to try 1x or 2x zoom i believe and wait for it to focus.

But another question from this novice......Does everyone keep the Tap to Scan?? Is there a way to turn off?? Is it better to leave it on?
