When looking for themes, icons, etc... do you default to Galaxy Store or Play Store? Any issues with loading icons and themes from Play store if I am using the default home launcher? Wasn't sure if I should stay inside one or the other or use both...

Thanks gang!

I don't use many themes or change icons all that much, but lots of the icon packs in the Play Store require a 3rd party launcher. As a general rule though, I prefer to use the Play Store over the Galaxy Store for most things.

Either store works well the Samsung store is a little quicker to launch whatever you download. Also you get points on the galaxy site.

If your using the default launcher then Galaxy store works better with themes, icon pack etc.

Either one works, but in general try to use play store since that's on every Android phone compared to galaxy store. Especially if it's present in both and you are buying stuff. If it's only specific to Galaxy phones then Galaxy store may make some sense but why mess around with 2 stores when play store is universal on every Android phone.

Play store unless it's a Samsung app, which I go to Galaxy store as they'll get the updates faster there. Also, I have Play Pass, so that makes a difference too. :)

I normally BUY apps through the play store as I have multiple android phones and they are not all Samsung.

When downloading free apps, play store unless there are in-game stuff I want that Samsung has offers for on their stores.

Granted, I don't really use the Samsung store all that often other than for Samsung apps.

I use the Samsung Store for themes and icon packs to use with the default launcher. It is also the place to get good lock app and its component apps. I don't get non-samsung apps and themes from there though. I get those through Play Store.

I don't remember where I found this, but I took a screenshot and it's a decent comparison between the two.

I think the biggest issue for me when buying apps or paying for them is that if I decide to jump ship and go with something that is NOT Samsung (yeah, I know... **GASP**), I don't want to have to buy them again. I DO have someone non-Sammy devices and like to be able to re-download those apps/games on them, so I pay for things on the PlayStore only.

Now, there IS the exception of the Galaxy Watch stuff, but the only things I really pay for there are Watch Faces. I have seen some REALLY cool watches come out lately that are not Samsung, but I think overall, the Galaxy Series Watches are the only ones I am going to stick with, well, for now.

Maybe I'm just really paranoid, but so many of the apps in the Galaxy Store are developers I've never heard of. Plus I don't really know how stringent Samsung is with testing apps before approval, but I trust Google a little more than Samsung (honestly I don't trust Google very much either). I basically only download apps from developers I've at least heard of.

If an app is available on both I just read the description to see if either has any specific advantage over the other. A good example is Prime Video. At one point in time a few years ago HDR only worked in the Prime app from the Galaxy Store, not the version in the Play Store. That's not the case anymore though.

Like others, I use the Play Store for most apps so they are available regardless what android device I use. But for one notable exception - Good Lock, which is only available on the Galaxy Store. One of the few Samsung apps that is not redundant of Google apps and adds some really great customizations that would be hard to live without.

Unless you don't use any of Samsung apps, only then will the Galaxy store be useless to you. Fortunately, people do use Samsung apps. So, the question whether anyone uses the Galaxy store is ridiculous. I have a Gear S3 Classic with LTE paired with a Note9. I use a handful of Samsung apps. So in my case, YES, I use the Galaxy store.

Yeah, I use it mainly for my Watch and a couple Galaxy things, but overall, Play Store. :D

Nope never use it just play store or game pass. My Note 20 ultra only cost $2300 here in New Zealand. With $350 buds and discount still too expensive. Don't need all of the bells and whistles. Only real complaint are these two issues. Shocking how short the battery life is at times only four hours. Balanced by one hour full charge. But expect wireless charger. Even with YouTube videos still after one week figuring out **** is really confusing. Using the pen and multi screen. Bixby is informative but Dad jokes are painfull
