YOU are absolutely correct - I am 70 years old, BUT:
a.) I worked in the Hi-Tech Industry for over 35 years (Medical Electronics), so it's easier to recognize these idiots!

b.) The last time I had a Norton Product was probably 25+ years ago, so... highly unlikely I'd be getting correspondence from them!

There are a ton of Seniors out there just waiting to get preyed upon and these idiots take full advantage of that fact... I also wish there were a way to physically find them!

I have a setup in mind for this.... I have a pc that I really don't care about. I can easily take out the data drive, and just run the OS drive. Contact these "wonderful people" and let them have at it. Whatever they do will easily be undone by reloading windows.

I was more worried that clicking their "Renew Now" link button, did something else!!! Backdoor into your phone or PC, Identity Theft, whatever... no thank you! I used to go through the trouble of reporting these things to my Internet Provider, but they became so frequent, that I didn't have time to do it anymore! And I never received any feedback from my ISP as to whether they did anything about any of them or not, either!!! ???

Perhaps your PC protested too much before?

I think if I loaded Norton on my PC it would protest too.

Totally agree - I've been running Kaspersky since 2003 maybe... very happy with it! I run "Internet Security" on my SurfacePro 7 and "Total Security" on my main PC. I tried their "Internet Security for Android" as a Free Trial for a while but found that my "AT&T Mobile Security" works fine and does more than just anti-virus!!!

I use a combo of Malwarebytes and Windows defender. One is free, and the other I intentionally get a code at a retail store. This circumvents the phishing emails, and gives me peace of mind. I don't care if I miss on a potential deal by doing it online.

To anyone else reading up on this: always use caution when clicking on any kind of link in an email. If you prefer to upgrade over the internet, try going to the site directly yourself.

If you are on a PC, always, and I do mean always, back up any files you don't want to lose. Get into some kind of habit of a regular schedule. Rule of thumb for backups is: 2 copies should be considered 1. Reason being if the data gets damaged or the backup is destroyed (think a fire or flood), that copy is lost. External drives are relatively cheap. Storing a copy in a different location (think bank safety deposit box) is considered good practice.

Sorry to derail the thread, OP. I like throwing our guidelines for backups whenever I can.

I use Malwarebytes as well, on all three units... great product! And don't worry about Hi-JACKING/DE-RAILING - you've been around long enough to know that good advise is NEVER discouraged here!
