Assuming the phone is still on an account with the carrier it was purchased on, it should have been updated to 4.4.4 by now. About the only major difference, though, is the SSL/Heartbleed bug fix, so if you don't do anything on the phone that requires security there's very little difference. (I'm running both 44.2 and 4.4.4 on my N900A [by using SafeStrap] and, aside from the looks, the only thing I noticed is a marginal increase in the sensitivity of the phone's radio on voice. I updated the radio on 4.4.2 to the 4.4.4 radio, only because it took a few seconds, but I wouldn't have wasted 10 minutes on it - it's not enough of a change.)
Check with your carrier to see if they're sending 4.4.4 out yet. (They may not be sending LolliFlop out until it works - it's not there yet.)
