Returning to Home Screen After Device Unlock

Please forgive my ignorance....I am new to Android Devices, been on the Apple train for the last 6 years.

So I have a brand new Note 3, love it, but I have a question....
When you press the power button to lock your screen or let's say your screen auto-locks after the set time frame, once I unlock my device it takes me back to whatever the last app, page, etc. I was looking at instead of the home screen. Is there a way to change this feature? Whenever I unlock my device I want it to return to the home screen and not pick up where I left off, anyway to change that?

I know an app called Widget Locker gives you that option, id look into that.

unless you download something, like the previous poster said, youd have to close what youre looking at before you locked the screen.
