So is my Galaxy Note 3 real? It appears to me it is but here is why I have doubts:

I bought my N3 on Swappa. The guy at AT&T told me it looked like a refurb, which is fine by me. However, the S-pen acts funny. It will bring up air command when I take it out of the holding spot. It also gives me the circle when I hover but if I want air command again after the pen is already out I have to hover and click like 10 times to get air command to pop up. I thought the tip was just going bad but when I tried to pull it out to replace it the thing would not pull out (even though it's wiggly like it should be able to come out) and literally crumbled to the point it's now flush with the end and I've ordered a new one from Samsung. The button does click but the pen says China near the top (teeny tiny letters near the metal band-- too small to get a pic with my iPhone or N3).

It also says Made in China on my battery. When I tried to register the phone on the Samsung website it says the IMEI is not recognized (because it's a fake or refurb?) but the Swappa website gives me a "white flag" and my AT&T account shows a picture of a Note 3 now instead of my iPhone 5s so I'm guessing AT&T recognizes it.

What do you think? Is it real but I just have a ****ty S-pen?

I'm going to try to attach images from Genuine Galaxy and also Spec Device.

Fake will be cheap usually 50% or less of the original retail price.

Question - how can I tell if my wife is counterfeit?

If that is the case why care if "it" is counterfeit, just continue use it !!!!! hahahahaa

I explain all the differences I found halfway through my post. If you want a quick verification, check the S Pen. I believe all the counterfeits' buttons are only carved on so you will not be able to hear it "click" when you press it.

If you're not satisfied by that, read the rest of the differences on the first post.

EDIT: I just got the joke. Lol

Tbh, it sounds like your pen is defective. The specs you posted match up to a real phone so that's a little odd. As for air command popping up when you take the pen out, that's normative.

Let me know how the new pen works when you receive it.

If you truly want to know if its real, go to the play store and download this app called genuine galaxy and it will tell you if its real or fake!! Works great because i have a real note 3, but my friend has a fake one so we did it together and it told me, mine was original and it told her, hers was fake.. Good luck

Abarzua21 has the answer, that Genuine Galaxy immediately solves the problem. The big problem is that you can't use it until you have the phone. So other info here will help. I just bought a Original Galaxy Note 3, N900W8, which BTW has The most "Bands" of any Note 3, as far as I can tell. A couple things that came with it. It was a black phone, the accessories were white except for the replacement nibs, they were black. The charger DID NOT have the UL logo on it. I also must say that not only is Samsung's web site pathetic as for detailed info, their support is also pathetic. The battery also said Made in Japan, Assembled in China. When I used Sam's chat, the person on the other end, couldn't understand English and the info as to the UL logo missing, or that a black phone had white accessories. He also had no clue as to the correct battery labeling. Next I emailed Samsumg US support (bought phone from Puerto Rico) the response said that was an international phone and they had no clue. I then called an 800# and again told that they didn't know anything about that phone. I then asked "ok, how about the phones sold in the us?" The woman then said that sometimes the accessories might be white with a black phone and "maybe" the UL logo wasn't on the charger. She also said that her new Note 3 had the same battery that I got.

So in my opinion, as far as the battery and the charger, its maybe. On Ebay look carefully at the feedback, I check the neutral and negative, one mention of "not OEM" and I write them off. Use PayPal to help get your money back. Thanks for all of the work above.

I just bought an unlocked one from amazon and have to say this forum scared me a bit lol. I downloaded the spec device app you suggested and ran it and got basically what you listed as the original. I also checked the controls and mine matched up with the original and my pen clicks and works. Also, mine didn't come with headphones, but the hook ups are white and has the 'UL' mark on it, matching the original. Thanks for this post, gave me a scare but I am pretty confident I got a real one now.
