Most simple live wallpapers will use minimal battery. The ones that tend to use more are the very graphics/animation-intensive ones, or the ones that access the web often (like weather wallpapers). Some live wallpapers also seem to be coded poorly, because I've encountered some that periodically start sucking battery for no clear reason, then calm down after a reboot.

Most of the stock ones, which I believe is what you are referring to, shouldn't be that big of a deal. It is the 3rd party ones like B. Diddy alluded to that can eat battery power. Beat thing to do is try them, and just keep an eye on your meter.

I like the bubbles live wallpaper.
Does it eat much battery or is it negligible?

I have been using the koi live wallpaper and it does not drain battery.

The stock wallpaper should not have any issues. If you download and use a live wallpaper keep an eye on it for the first few days to see how it uses resources.
