Note 3: UK KitKat Update

My battery life has taken a big hit with the update.

Mine is unchanged. It was on 90% after 10 hours of light usage today. I have uninstalled a couple of things though previously that was killing my battery.

I disabled Google Play Services and have disabled some of the bloatware rubbish which come with Samsung devices. If you have Poweramp, I had to uninstall this too as it was using far too much battery in the background.

With some people it may be a case of trial and error but make sure you refer to the "battery" section within the Setting menu as that will break down exactly what is consuming your battery.

I hope this helps.

Got my update yesterday from network 3. Seems a little more snappy. The new cover art looks good on the lockscreen also looks pretty sweet. I just wish Sammy would let us use lockscreen widgets and have some sort of security enabled on the lockscreen. I mean you cant even have the camera widget ifyou have a pattern lock !

Re: Note 3 UK KitKat Update

I'm in Scotland and downloaded the update today. I've never updated an Android phone before as I've previously only used Apple. Is it a complicated process? Will I lose any data that's on the phone right now? Should I switch back to TouchWiz before updating? I'm using Nova Prime currently?

Sorry for all the questions but I don't want to get it wrong as there's no mobile signal where I live and broadband is merely an aspiration around these parts. I had to drive 12 miles in to town to download the update, lol.

If you downloaded the update over the air already, all you need to do is ensure you have your battery almost full and simply go ahead and apply it.

Checked again this morning and the update is now available. I'm on an unlocked Note 3, so am assuming this update is from Samsung.

Just got a notification for the update (Unlocked Sim Free), does anyone know if the sd card and other problems are still on this kitkat build I'm not installing it if they are? Thank you.

Do we get to access the camera directly from the lock screen as stated on the upgrade screen? Can't see how to do it if so.

Downloaded and installed here. There's no great differences that I've noticed so far. It's perhaps a tad more responsive but the battery doesn't seem to last quite as long as previously. Apart from that I've had no problems.

Settings > Device > Lock screen > Shortcuts.

But it does get rid of app Shortcuts if you have them.

Nice wallpaper, mind sharing and do you know if it comes in black?

Thank you, I made it my self in photoshop. Uploading them on here might effect the quality a bit but here you go :)

Same here, another spanish user happy to be reporting the upgrade went by successfully.

unfortunately, seems that it wasn't enough to completely shake frame drops out of the note 3, but I do see some improvement.
