I was checking if there are any new software updates for my Note 3, i wen to settings>software updates>check for updates. Then a window appeared stating "Your device has been modified. Software updates not available."(i dont know how to post a screenshot here).

My device got rooted when i brought it to a technician cause it was locked on a specific provider.

What am I supposed to do? Can i still be able to update my phone? Update to Kitkat too?

You'd have to flash a stock firmware file to get rid of the modified status. That will probably lock it to the original carrier though.

    1) Download Odin to your PC
    2) Download 7zip as well
    3) Open 7zip, and use it to unzip the Odin file you downloaded
    4) Now open the actual Odin program
    5) Download a stock firmware file for your exact model number. You can get these on either sammobile or samsung-updates.com
    6) In Odin, hit PDA if you're using version 3.07 or earlier. AP if it's 3.09
Now look for the firmware file you downloaded, uncheck F. Reset time, and hit start

After that, if it passes, it'll be back to it's original state, so make sure you back everything up before doing it.
Not 100% sure if it'll lock to the original carrier, but if you had to modify it to get it unlocked in the first place, you might have to do it again

I think I got my version of Odin off XDA too. Haven't used the 3.09 yet, as I have 3.07, and for me it works just fine.
