Are spare batteries worth the cost? If so...1 or 2 spares? What brand? What adapter?

My old original Note had a spare battery and charger. The 3200mA Note 3 battery last more than a day, but it is still a pain to plug in for a couple of hours to charge it up.

- Would you recommend a spare battery? If so what brand?

- What brand of charger?

- What mA size of charger? Is 1mA charger ok to charge the 3200mA battery?

1. only you can answer whether or not you need an extra battery based on your usage. i find that charging my phone at night is enough for me.
2. if you do buy a battery or charger - OEM is always best IMO.

good luck.

As you guys have stated the battery last fine for the first 6-9mos. As it gets past 9-12mos. it may start to get weaker and hold less charge. Having one spare (two batteries) may extend the longevity of the battery life or so I have heard.

I always buy a spare battery since I'm often not near an outlet but also in case of emergency or for troubleshooting purposes if the original battery malfunctions, but of course only you can answer if it's worth the cost to you.

I always recommend ONLY buying original manufacturer batteries and only buying from authorized resellers or the manufacturer. I know a lot of people like to go the cheaper route and I used to be one of them before I bought what ended up to be fake (sold as OEM and looked like OEM in every little detail) Samsung batteries off ebay for a previous phone and learned my lesson when they fried the insides of my phone. I first found out they were fake because the NFC wasn't working despite have Near Field Communication written on them like my original. The seller insisted it was an OEM battery and must just be defective and agreed to replace it. I had ordered two and ended up replacing them twice and of course none of the batteries actually had NFC despite the markings because they were fake. Since I had all these batteries now I figured I would just use them as backups when I didn't need NFC. One of them heated up my phone so high that when I picked it up because I saw that it had suddenly shut down, it burned my hand and after it cooled down enough to touch it, when I opened the back it was melted inside. Of course I had no recourse since they were fake.

So that's my warning about buying non-OEM replacement batteries or buying what is sold as and looks like OEM batteries from ebay, amazon, or anyplace that is not an authorized reseller. As far as how many spare batteries to buy, buy what you expect you will need in the next 6 months or so. Battery life declines with age even when the battery is not being used. You can expect a year or so of decent battery life. If you bought several spares now planning for the future - say you expect to use the phone for the next 2 years - all your batteries capacities will have declined a year from now. If you buy one now (or two if you have reason to think you will need more in the immediate future) then 6 or 9 or 12 months from now you can buy a fresh one that will have 100% capacity at that time instead of the lessened capacity of the one that's been sitting in your drawer for a year.

There is a battery charger on the samsung website, under accessories for the Note 3, that comes with a spare battery and I am getting that one myself.

I must be a pretty light user. I plug my phone in when I go to bed its charged when I get up. Once in awhile I have to charge it during the day but I don't find it to be any great chore. I would rather plug mine in for a bit then to have to carry around spare batteries.

Also I agree with the person who mentioned not to buy batteries that are not OEM batteries. To do so can be dangerous.

#1 Only you can decide if you need a spare battery. Personally the battery life is great for me and it lasts a full day with no issues. I can't think why someone might want a spare battery unless they travel a lot but in that instance I just carry around my 12000 mAh portable charger.
#2 If you do get one I recommend either buying straight from Samsung or making sure you get a genuine brand that will work well.
#3 The 3200mAh battery that the Note 3 has standard should be fine.
Going to post links to Samsung's official standard battery below, as well as one for the Portable Charger I use.

Galaxy Note 3 Standard Battery (3200mAh) (ATT Version) May need to search for different one if you have a different carrier.

I'm a heavy user so I normally carry a spare battery. I've tried to use the original battery by Samsung but for some reason it does not hold the charge well. I even bought a brand new Samsung battery after a few months the battery does not hold well. But nevertheless I bought Hyperion batteries before and they do not hold well up against anker batteries. The anker batteries in my opinion hold up very well. I get a day and a half with those batteries.

I thought I was the only one experiencing this or I was simply going crazy. Lol 😁

I think have 2 is worth it. It's rare that I need to use another battery but nice to have around just in case. I don't like or want to carry a charger with me all all the time.

There's a difference though between buying a Samsung branded battery that may or may not claim to be a factory sealed original, but turns out to be a fake - and a quality aftermarket battery specialist with a reputation for quality and customer service such as Anker, who can still undercut the OEM unit.
I will be buying a similar capacity spare. Samsung or Anker.

I bought the Anker 3200mAh spare battery within a couple days of getting my Note 3 and it has not been removed ever since. It is a premium quality battery and works well. I do keep the original Samsung battery in a pouch when at work just in case.

I buy OEM batteries and charger. For regular daily use I don't need it as I have a charger in my office so have no problem getting through the day. I find when in places where it's crowded and there is no charger (sporting events, amusement parks) battery consumption increases tremendously and like to carry a spare. Also when traveling a lot of times a charger is not convenient so it is nice to have a spare as I use the phone more for navigation, Yelp watching videos, photos. Also make sure you get a case where it's easy to take the phone or to change the battery. I had a metal bumper that requires a small screwdriver that was a hassle that I don't use anymore.

Definitely worth it and highly recommended! :D I've been using the Samsung spare battery charger for my Note 2 (with two batteries) over the last year and half and find it invaluable. NEVER have to worry about plugging the phone in to charge; just swap out to get back to a full charge within minutes, then throw the depleted one in the charger (rinse and repeat as needed). Most of the time, the charger and spare battery stay at home. But it's easily portable for those times when you're away from home for an extended period (ex. vacation) or when the extra capacity may be needed. :)

I'd recommend going straight to Samsung for their Note 3 spare battery charging system (link below). Best Buy may have them in store too if you have them where you live. It comes with everything you need; charging case, spare 3200mAh battery, and wall charger.

I prefer Samsung. But if you must go third party, Anker has good quality.

Actually I don't buy any phone that doesn't have a replaceable battery. I use as spare and also when battery ages and can't take a charge i don't have to get a new phone. So currently that means only Samsung phones. Also I like being able to replace the back and there are plenty of textures and materials you can change the back to. Other phone companies seem to follow Apple's example and have fixed batteries. I'm not saying that is on only reason Samsung is beating the pants off all other phone manufacturers but for me personally it is the reason I won't even consider an HTC, LG, Motorola phone. Rumors are the new LG G3 will have a removable battery so perhaps they are learning.
